@horrid-corvid follow up report 💪😤
Okay, SO. My workplace is toxic af. But like… it’s a medical office with full female staff, that is, unfortunately, par for the course. HOWEVER, the last sixish months, it has gotten significantly worse. I mean like, mass exodus worse.
The office manager (well I guess she’s the ex-office manager now) was a snake. Unless you were one of her sweethearts, you were not treated all that great. Luckily for me, I was one of the sweethearts. But anyway— super unprofessional, she and Susan would gossip about the employees WITH other employees. There were also a lot of really unfair policy changes. They changed some rules to target certain people so they had a reason to fire them, just to name a few of the things they did.
Recently the back office manager decided to quit because the doctor who owns the practice just wasn’t doing anything about all the complaints he was getting about the office manager and Susan. Back office manager was supposed to be trained by office manager to take over the position of office manager in a couple years when OM retired. Well, OM likes Susan better because Susan drinks OM’s koolaid, and so she had started training Susan instead. Back office manager was rightfully upset, and tbh that was the straw that broke the camels back.
Then last week we had someone literally walk out. And then also last week someone left, different person than the one that walked out, and they told the dr who owns the practice that OM and Susan were what was wrong with this place and that they were the reason she was quitting.
I guess that lit a fire under dr who owns the practice’s butt because yesterday was going as normal until shortly before lunch, I get a text from my coworker in the main office that OM and Susan were fired.
Tbh i am surprised and not at the same time. This dr is kinda… he likes to be involved and make decisions, but he doesn’t like to get involved in the drama between employees. And he’s also kind of a pushover. So while I was surprised that they ACTUALLY got fired, it was not unexpected.
I feel really bad for Susan though, because I liked her very much. And she literally just quit her second job because she got a raise here, so now she has zero jobs.
AND THEN, so me, my coworker G (who I love v much) and F (who I tolerate because I am civil with people I don’t like in my workplace) are talking about it.
Also important info: OM’s daughter also works for the company and she’s in our office today.
Coworker S (different from Susan) comes out of a room with a patient to hear Coworker F and OM’s daughter talking shit about me and Coworker G for what we said about the situation. And I’m just laughing because 1. I’ve always known F was a snake 2. She was the one who was saying the mean shit! All me and G said was that we felt bad for Susan and that it wasn’t unexpected for Om to get fired.
So now I’m sitting here considering if I should confront coworker F about talking shit and spreading lies.
Oh and, OM and Susan were being shady on Facebook. I don’t have any of my coworkers on Facebook so I didn’t see it. But me and a couple coworkers I would be seen outside of work with are in a group chat and they sent screenshots.
I’m debating if I should ask coworker F if when she was telling OM’s daughter what we said about the situation, if she also told OM’s daughter what SHE said, or did she only tell OM’s daughter things that would make OTHER people look bad? 🤔
But I have to work with her next week too, so maybe not.
