2-D Animation: Evaluation
I’ve had a few peoples take on my 2-D Animation, mainly people from home because I didn't want to annoy anybody else whilst they were working.
“I have to say I liked the whole rainbow, MC Hammer thing for the last half of the animation but the start desert part I didn't really get but it still looked nice. Maybe you should make the rainbow part longer.” - Mum
In all honestly I thought he was right, I didn't really like the start of the animation either and I would much rather of had the whole animation just MC Hammer playing whilst Fry Guy fly's around the screen, but I needed some sort of story; no matter how small an irrelevant.
“Overall, it was fun to watch and the MC Hammer was a nice touch. But I have to say, for a lot of it I thought it was a guy suffering from a drug trip. Well until the end I thought that, but still.” - Dad
I wasn't sure how I would make my animation not look like it was a guy suffering from drugs, because of the obvious; he turns into Fries and spins whilst music plays. But I tried to differ from drugs or at least add something at the end telling you that it wasn't drugs.
“The little Southpark made me smile, I think you should have added more people to the animation. Maybe 2-3 people bouncing around?” - Ross
I agree with this, I felt when I finished the animation like there were some places that seemed empty. And I debated added in extra characters but then I ran the risk of the animation being to cramped.
I’m not sure If this went up the first time, but I’m uploading it again for certain.
Creative Career Development: Task 2/3
What Is trending?
Google cracks down on sits that aren't mobile friendly; Googles algorithms have been checking the response times of websites when using a mobile to crack down on websites that are not able to support mobile use. Also Google itself have been paying developing teams consisting artists, coders etc; for creating applications and add-ons for the Google Play Store, numbers show that Google have paid our 7 billion dollars in the past year. Facebook expands offices in London’s knowledge Quarter after closing deal with British Land; Facebook have doubled the size of their HQ in the UK with this move itself, by adding 66,000 sq ft to the already 87,000 sq ft they already have. A space has now been assigned to King Digital, who are the application team who created Candy Crush and also various other applications. Microsoft gives app developers access to Xbox One SDK (Software Development Kit); at the current start only a select number of developers are able to use the kit to create Xbox One games but in the near future it will be open to many more. Windows developers also will be able to create ports to allow the apps they create to be imported to the Xbox One Store. With the new Windows 10 operating system coming out this opens up many doors for application developers to be put onto Xbox One Live.
Who Is Hiring?
Google cracks down on sits that aren't mobile friendly; this opens up a surprising amount of jobs and prospects because of the fact that Google will be trying to introduce better mobile use on most websites that do not support the mobile use at all. Many companies at the moment are hiring mobile developers and artists to help make their companies websites more suitable for mobile use. So in turn possibly 1000’s of jobs are available because of it, graphic artists, assistance artists, Layout artists etc. Facebook expands offices in London’s knowledge Quarter after closing deal with British Land; the fact that Facebook need almost double the staff they already have at the UK HQ which is great for many people in the creative media. The obvious group that will have the highest job availability would most likely be the web developers, and layout designers. But the fact that Facebook has given an application team the space to create applications and maintain there apps at the HQ really gives hope to aspiring application teams that want to have a foothold and a steady income from there applications. Microsoft gives app developers access to Xbox One SDK (Software Development Kit); having smaller/medium sized developers being allowed to use the SDK to create games for the Xbox One really opens up an infinite amount of jobs, the entertainment business is never ending and is still growing because there are more and more consumers. Indie developers having the possibility to create games for one of the next gen consoles really allowed them to branch out and hire Xbox One developers. Previously Indie companies could only create games for the PC because of the massive Indie scene on-line like the Greenlight on Steam and other services. The type of jobs that I feel could come out of this honestly could be almost every single type of job in the creative industry, concept artist, audio producer, animator, graphic designer, etc.
Task 2/3 EOY Project:
Task 1: EOY Project
MSN (Microsoft Social Network):
MSN was one of the first social networks that existed, all it actually did was you used your email account to Instant Message friends. And some other smaller features like small games, emoticons etc. It was very basic but at the time it was a big step in the direction of the big social networks there are today.
Blogs (Blogger/Blogspot/Pintrest):
Blogs in all honesty are outdated, there not too popular anymore. They are useful for a certain types of people, like people that are easier famous on the internet that post video updates or what they are doing in the near future but blogs are still being slowly moved away from. Blogs are being slowly replaced by Vlogs which are simply better, for this reason; vlogs can in many ways be easier than making blogs.
Skype:
Using Skype allows peer-to-peer voice calls or video calls so that you can obviously talk to people. This is used very commonly in businesses where 2 firms can talk to each other from across the world for free, also they used them to interview people for jobs without actually meeting them in real life. Skype can be used to hold video conferences with several people, the maximum people you can have in one is 10 people, but you can also hold audio conferences that can have up to 25 people in at once.
Kik App:
Kik is an application that you can download on your mobile phones which cuts out all of the irrelevant things about other Instant Messengers and just has the basic things; Like, name, picture and instant messaging. Kik is a very popular way for the teenagers mainly to talk, when they are not together and don’t have a great internet plan; because first it’s free, and requires wi-fi to accept messages.
Behance:
Behance is a great way to share a project you are working on, or have finished with other content creators to potential employers. There are many features on this website, one of the most important ones is that if you are looking for a artists to do a certain piece of work for you you can advertise a job on the website. Another feature that can be utilised is that you can direct message a content creator that you admire or follow to either ask them a question, about doing a job or just compliment them.
Task 5:
I’m going to be looking at the type of Contract that would be written up for the job opportunities being opened up at the new Facebook HQ in London. Because my passion for gaming and my favorite art styles I feel really would put me in a good place there. Basically the opportunity is that the Facebook HQ has gotten almost twice the amount of space than it used to have and with that new space they have started to allocate parts of it to app developers that will be creating apps for Facebook.
No commitment wouldn't be anything over the top, I would only have to commute to London every day, which is really no big deal considering it’s a 30 minutes train ride away, and I won’t have to change living arrangements of move because of the commute either. These types of jobs never actually give you a direct number of your salary because it’s usually all competitive with these types of things; so you can never get a minimum and you can never get a maximum so it’s hard to judge whether it’s worth taking the risk for the job.
This is a contract I found online that I feel would be relevant (ignore the red/blue writing). Because of the fact I highly doubt that these jobs have permanent stay, obviously there are exceptions to some; but what I mean is that I think the job will be a contract much like a builders contract where you decided how each party wants this to be billed, daily, hourly, all at the end, half and the start half at the end. So having these write up contracts allows the company to write up what they expect the team to do and how much time they have and how much money they have to do it.
Task 1: Job Roles In The Creative Media
Animation Director:
Having overall responsibility of the the project and the quality level, being able to lead a group of animators. Interpret the brief that the client has given them and create a battle plan to tackle the project.
Assistant Animator:
The overall of this job would be to assist in the creation of the project and making the crew be able to run at 100%; so that the project runs smoothly from start to finish.
CG Modeler:
The basically lowdown of this job role would be to create 3-D computer models for video games, films and television shows. This job is done so that the rigging team can create skeletons for the CG Model you created so it can be animated.
Concept Artist:
Producing Illustrations on a brief given by a client so that they can see there ideas come to life. Creating accurate representations of an idea, and being open to editing it.
Director or Series Director:
You must have the creative drive to have ideas and bring them to life, guiding a team and determining the art style of said idea. Also providing a vision and leadership within the group so that the animation moves swiftly on.
I would go into details on other job roles, but they are either the exact same to the ones i just described with different names, for the lesser versions of these job titles: for example “Animator” is a employee in a group that is lead by the “Animation Director”.
Task 3/4/5: Animation/Evaluation
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5N4BBcz7undajNWbXJ4S2ltR1k/view?usp=sharing
Evaluation of my Project:
Honestly, animating rigs was one of the hardest tasks I’ve ever had to do in this course; there were many different problems I had. Like losing 10 seconds of my animation because of thinking I saved it, then rendering and it freezing when I render etc etc. But overall I think he looks “okay”, I could have done it better I’m sure of it.
There are many different things I would of rather done to make this project a success, like for example; choosing a better rig, because the Sinka Rig has so much locked that it is really hard to actually make the arms and legs move like they would in real life, and just overall watching more videos of how people move in real life; because my Rig looks very wooden and robot like.
when you go on a blog and your favorite song starts playing:
#chris evans #in where he is actually steve rogers
#when is chris evans not steve rogers though
#when casting is perfect I begin to wonder about Marvel #do they secretly grow these people on farms #let them loose on the world for a while to establish lives #and then cast them as the role they were grown for

2D Animation Background: Desert
I’ve nearly finished one of my scenes for the 2D Animation Project, I just need to add a little bit more detail; more specifically the tree itself and maybe the skype and sun but I’m content with those at the moment.
This is my proposal for the 2D Animation 30 second project.
Task 2: 2D Animation Ideas
Most of my Ideas include a character I created within the first week of getting this project handed to us. The character is a Fry Boy, with arms and a face.
My first Idea was just 30 seconds of Fry Guy dancing to some techno music with most sinister look on his face, the background would be in a club full of other inanimate objects dancing around, mostly fast food objects. And he would be in the middle, whilst the others cheered him on.
My Second Idea was A bouncy ball trying to make his way through the most challenging maze ever, and he would encounter difficult jumps and tight squeezes to make it. I was thinking of going with that one until recently.
My third idea is the one I’m going to stick with, at the start I wanted a man to be walking home from somewhere and all of a sudden he turns into the Fry Guy; whilst music plays in the background. And whilst he is Fry Guy he pings around the screen, and the background to the screen would be something really trippy and weird.
History Of Animation
. r28,000 BC: Not so much animation where but they would they an animate or make the thoughts they have or experiences in their lives. What I mean is that where they would draw frames somewhat like a storyboard; so when hunters would do something great someone would paint what they did on the wall.
1066: The year of The Battle Of Hastings, this year is relevant because artists would document the battle by being woven being read from left to right like how many people read still. This documentation was/is called The Bayeux Tapestry.
1500′s: In Turkey shadow puppetry was very big, and there was a very famous character that was created called Karagoz. Basically this creation involved at character made from camel hide moving behinda muslin screen; obviously the light source was a candle lit behind the screen.
1700′s: Like the 1500′s Turkey shadow puppeteers became very popular in the country of France. The concept was still the exact same as it was 200 years ago but now the puppets we’re made of wood.
1817: The first ever kaleidoscope was created by a man called Sir David Brewster. A kaleidoscope was in essence a tube with 2 two mirrors inside that reflect the pattern that the little pieces of glass inside would show, they are still used this very day for children as toys.
1824: The thaumatrope was created, this piece is usually credited to either John Ayrton Paris or Peter Mark Roget but no one is certain about who created it first. How this simple looking illusion worked was where you was draw a picture on each side of the card, put wire or thread through holes on either side and spin. If spun fast enough both images would seamlessly merge into one and look like they are both on the same side
1834: The Wheel Of Life was created, more commonly known as a Zoetrope, credited creator of this devises was George Homer. How this would work would be that there are many different images inside the barrel and slits to peer through. Once the barrel was spun and you look through a slit and see a animation of maybe a horse running or people dancing. Many advertise this as the first gif, or a physical representation of what a gif is.
1838: Where a creation called a Stereoscope was invented by a man called Charles Wheatstone. This was the one of the first ways that something that looked 2D was made to seem that it was 3D. How this worked was there was a piece of word, metal, etc in between your eyes and also 2 different lenses to look through; so when you looked at the same image it seemed 3D like.
1886: The first single lens camera was created by the inventor Louis Le Prince. Obviously the first step to making an animation is frames; so when the creation of the camera happened animation because revolutionized, so many different types of animation where able to happen because the camera was invented. Which I will go into.
1930s: Where comics started to become more mainstream and some of the greatest stories every told where wrote. Like Tarzan and Dick Tracy. People like to refer to this as the golden age for comic book writing.
1934: The creators of one of or maybe the most well known super heroes of all time wrote the comic “Superman” Which obviously started the creation of many other super heroes and villains, so in turn made the comic book scene grow massively. The creators credited for “Superman” we’re Jerome Siegel and Joseph Shuster.
1975: The year that the artist/animator Will Vinton copyrights the phrase/term claymation, which everyone knows is how Wallace And Gromit was created. This is where cameras really became involved in animation because of the real life aspect of claymation.
1995: The year Pixar created the first fully 3D animated movie, probably the most famous animated movie “Toy Story”.
2005: One of the most famous claymations was created by Aardman Animations. And this was named Wallace And Gromit.
