Unpredictable || Clay & Lexie
Closing his eyes with a mock grimace, Clay groaned again at her victory dance. “I’m begging you! I still can’t believe I let you trick me that easily.” Her happiness at winning was infectious however, and it didn’t give him any time to dwell on being the loser. Her fingers entwined between his own felt completely natural, like they’d been holding hands for years, and he couldn’t help but smile softly. Nudging her gently with his hip at her statement, he rolled his eyes as a lazy grin unfurled itself across his lips. “You really think I’m gonna fall for that?” A low chuckle escaped him. “I might have grown up an only child but I definitely heard that kind of stuff in grade school. Maybe even fell for it a few times.” Squeezing her hand softly he glanced down at her as they reached the bar. “Two hotdogs, two sodas and two of your finest ice creams please sir.” He pulled his wallet out, shaking his head at Lexie’s offer to pay for the snacks. “While I’m not contesting that we are indeed both losers, especially since it softens the blow a little bit that I did manage one victory, the deal was still for the loser of Street Fighter to get the snacks.” Grinning a little wider as he stowed his wallet back inside his jacket, he tilted his head thoughtfully. “Still, loser of the next game could always get us first round next time we’re at Joe’s?”
"Okay, okay. No more teasing about your loss." Lexie agreed. "Hey, who knows." she started with a laugh, "You've fallen for it? I would have loved to see that. Oh and your shoe is untied," The brunette joked, looking down at his shoes and trying to get him again then finally giving up. Pulling out her wallet as he pulled out his and declined her offer she pouted. "Hey c'mon," she started. "Well, true. Okay fine." Lexie began to put her wallet away as the man handed them their food and she immediately licked her ice cream to keep it from dripping. "Thank you for the snacks," Lexie smiled. "It's a deal." she said, referring to his offer about next loser buying the first round at Joe's. "This ice cream is actually very good." Lexie said, starting a conversation between the two. She began to rub her thumb back and forth on his hand before she started to take a bite of her hot dog. "Whats next, Clay Cormier the fellow?" Lexie questioned as she looked over at the guy and her mind begun to roam. She felt like she could be herself around him. Like she didn't have to act as anything else. She wasn't afraid that she would say the wrong thing and mess up around him and she liked that feeling she got with him.

Clay: Hahaha I do it's fine.
Clay: Yep tomorrow. Meet me at the beach, where we got those smoothies, at 5?
Lexie: I'll be there. :)

Clay: Ouch.
Clay: Yeah you probably should or my ego will weigh us down tomorrow.
Lexie: Hey you know I was only kidding. I'm sorry.
Lexie: So tomorrow?
Unpredictable || Clay & Lexie
Clay’s mouth hung open in surprise, he couldn’t believe that he’d actually fallen for her tactic, rookie mistake. Tearing his attention away from her, he threw himself back into the game and tried to assess the damage from his lapse in attention. He couldn’t help a laugh bubbling up however, chuckling in pure amusement at how well she’d played him. “I think you deserve this win Grey, you definitely got me.” Wrestling quickly with the controls as he tried to find any way of bringing the game back into his grasp, his gaze skittering across the screen as he continued to laugh. “But I’m totally getting ice cream too, I need something to soothe this loss.” He shook his head ruefully, his own confidence had let him down and delivered this loss right to him. Smothering his laughter and throwing a grin her way, he shook his head again. “Nah it wasn’t evil, it was pure genius.” Clay focused all his attention back to the game as the final few seconds played out in front of him. Letting out a groan as the scorecard music played out and his second place finish flashed out in front of him. “C’mon then sneaky, lets go get those losers snacks. Try not to rub it in too much?” The fellow slipped his arm around her shoulders as they headed off towards the bar.
Dancing out of joy in a small circle to the winning music she laughed. "Rub what in? The fact that I just beat you in your favorite game? Not to mention I tricked you? Okay, I'll try." Lexie teased. Lexie laughed again, "Your face when you realized I played you, that was priceless. You should've seen it," she spoke between the sound of her laugh as they exited, his arm around her shoulders. She raised her hand to the hand of his that was hanging around her shoulders and held his hand with hers, intertwining their fingers. Lexie really didn't know what brought her to do that, but she went with it. Taking a deep breath and showing a smile she spoke. "You know, I'm a loser too. I did loose the first game after all. We're both losers," she looked up at him. "Therefore I too get loser snacks." She pointed out. Lexie put her attention back on where they'd been walking. "You know, if you say gullible slowly it sounds like oranges." Lexie looked up at him, trying to see if he'd fall for that too.

Lexie: So. I heard you've met "the guy".
Text | Lexie
Clay: Nah you gave me permission I totally can now.
Clay: Calm down Lexie, Lexie Grey! It doesn't make you a creep.
Clay: Kinda made me smile though. If you're talking to your sister about me I must not be all bad right?
Lexie: No, Clay. I'm talking to her about you because you're horrible.
Lexie: Totally kidding by the way. You're not horrible. You're actually quite great.
Lexie: I should be quiet now.
Text | Lexie
Clay: Have to try it sometime ;)
Clay: I mentioned you, then she seemed to realise who I was. Said something about me being the guy??
Lexie: I guess you do. ;)
Lexie: Don't.
Lexie: Kidding.
Lexie: The guy? Shoot.
Lexie: Oh gosh, I didn't mean that in a bad way. I've talked about you to her. In a good way of course.
Lexie: Does that make me sound like a creep?
Text | Lexie
Clay: Well yeah, wouldn't be a good surprise if you were freaking out would it.
Clay: We ran into each other getting coffee, she was interested to meet me I think.
Lexie: Hm, I guess not. Though it would be kind of funny.
Lexie: Interested? What were you saying?
Text | Lexie
Clay: Good cos that's what I was going for.
Clay: Hmmm lets see ... it's something we've talking about.
Clay: Oh yeah I met your sister yesterday as well.
Lexie: Oh is it?
Lexie: You met Meredith?
Text | Lexie
Clay: Great, keep it that way!
Clay: One that involves you not asking questions.
Clay: Aka - it's a surprise ;)
Lexie: ooooo a surprise?
Lexie: Surprises are fun. Now you've got me excited.
Lexie: How about a hint?
If the photos are anything to go by, we had a good time last night
Oh really? Must be all that coolness I acquired in all the years since high school. I’ll tell you all my stories but you have to promise to share some in return.
Great I’ll see you soon.
Mine might be way too embarrassing to tell. But maybe I'll consider it.
See you soon.

Clay: Are you free tomorrow?
Clay: I've got an idea.
Lexie: Definitely.
Lexie: An idea? What kind of idea?
Drinks at Joe's || Jessica & Lexie
Jess had been in Seattle for a matter of hours, and she had already felt more at home than she ever did in Stanford. The hospital was more welcoming and so were the doctors and nurses. Even though she had only met Clay and Lexie, Jess felt much more welcomed in Seattle. Stanford had been great for her at the beginning, but once she got into the swing of things it had become more of a trouble than a learning experience and a job. Colleagues at Stanford always seemed to be more worried about when their next tee time was, instead of the patients. And when they were worried about their patients, they were really just worried about covering their ass. These doctors seemed more worried about their patients more than anything else, as far as Jess could see.
After meeting Lexie, and accepting her invitation to meet her in the lobby and go to Joe’s for drinks, Jess finished off her first day of rounds. Checking in with her current attending and heading to human resources to fill out a few more stacks of paperwork, Jess headed to the locker room and changed out of her scrubs. Exiting the elevator, Jess waited by the hospital map trying to figure out where everything was so she wouldn’t end up getting lost. She saw Lexie out of the corner of her eye, turned and smiled. “Hey.”
Lexie's day was pretty hard, long and tiring. Not to mention that her patient that had been in the hospital on and off had recently died. That job really did have ups and downs to go with it. She had also had a lot of her mind lately, so all she really had wanted at the moment were some drinks, alcohol preferably. Looking at her watch she'd seen it had been nine fifteen she was so exhausted to the point she almost fell asleep right there. After hearing the hospital hired a new third year resident she decided it'd be a good idea to invite her out along with her to everyones favorite bar. Walking down to the lobby and hearing the voice of the new resident she smiled, "Hey," Lexie replied as she started for the doors of the lobby.
They had walked for a couple of moments across the street to the bar and eventually walked in, making their way to the few bar stools in front to the bartenders. "Coke and rum, please" The brunette said to the bartender who placed the drink in front of her within a couple of seconds. She shot him a nod, sort of as a thank you. Taking a sip of her drink she turned toward the resident, "So," she started, "What was it like down at Stanford?" Lexie questioned.
Unpredictable || Clay & Lexie
Clay didn’t go easy on Lexie to begin with, throwing himself into the game with everything he had. After a few rounds with her trailing his score he fought to keep his competitive spirit under control and give her the chance she needed to keep up. “Maybe I should have let you have a go on the single player mode on your own, that wasn’t very good teaching on my part.” He glanced over at her screen and watched her battling with the controls, easing up on his own as he did so and letting his attention wander from the game. While it was a little bit amusing to watch her fight the game he didn’t want to be mean. “Or we could call this one a tie, since you’ve held your own against me and my pre-existing knowledge of all the best combos to use.” He shrugged lightly and motioned around them at the rest of the arcade. “There are plenty of games here so there must be some more we both know, or ones we both don’t know and that way we can level the playing field again. Beating you on a game where I had the advantage just isn’t as fun.” The fellow stuck his tongue out at her, eyebrow twitching slightly in another challenge. “I’ll even put a wager on the table. Next person to lose buys the other a hot dog and soda?”
Taking her hands away from the game she looked up at him with a small pout. "Hm, maybe," she said about the tie and loser buying food part. The brunette looked at his screen and was still slowly making her way up to where he had been in the game and when she finally did she started laughing. "Guess what, Cormier? I think I may or may not be ahead of you right now," she said as she quickly continued with the game. "You actually believed me?" Lexie teased, pulling her attention back to the game as she saw him stand there. "You better get back to that game because as of now, you're the one buying the hot dog and soda," the resident couldn't resist to laugh. As her laugh quickly vanished Lexie begun to feel bad about lying to him. "I'm sorry, that was evil of me. I'll buy the soda and hot dog," Lexie said with a smile as she pushed her hair out of her face. "I'll even throw ice cream onto the offer," she threw on. "Or, we could keep playing and see who wins. Just from curiosity," Lexie offered.
If the photos are anything to go by, we had a good time last night
Damn. Now I gave away how uncool I was in high school when I should be trying to impress you. Don’t worry though, if it’s embarrassing stories you want there are plenty … you should hear about the time I got my shoelace caught in the starting gate during city finals and fell flat on my face.
Awesome, should I swing by your place to pick you up?
Impress me? I don't think it would take much for you to succeed in impressing me. And I might make you tell me all of those stories.
Sure that would be great.
Unpredictable || Clay & Lexie
Playing this game brought back so many memories that he’d apparently been repressing about the time he spent with his dad. “I didn’t think I remembered any of the actual game, just coming here with my dad to play it but apparently I do.” He concentrated again for a second, pulling up the needed combo to execute a perfect hurricane kick. With his mind on the game he carried on chattering away without thinking. “After my dad left us I didn’t want to go the arcade any more. Then after I went to see him when I was older he told me I wasn’t his son and he didn’t want anything to do with me. After that I didn’t want to think about the arcade I guess, so I blocked it all out.” A ghost of a smile was playing across his face now. “I’m really glad we’ve come though, its given me a chance to remember how much fun it was. Glad that he had the game to concentrate on so he didn’t have to see the pity he expected in her eyes, Clay shifted his full attention back to the game so she didn’t have to respond to his sudden outpouring. He navigated his way through the controls, starting up a running commentary for Lexie of what he was doing and what each sequence entailed, a lazy grin unfurling itself across his lips. He carried on practicing for longer than either of them probably needed to because he was enjoying the feeling of holding the brunette close to him. With the excuse of it being for the game he could get away with it since it wasn’t making anything awkward. “There you go! That’s the basics, so think you can try and beat me on two player? I promise not to be too cocky if I beat you since I have got background experience.” He let go of her, leaning against the side of the machine with his grin still firmly in place, eyes twinkling with the thrill of the challenge.
She listened to his story about his father, "Oh..I'm sorry," Lexie had been filled with sadness for a moment after he mentioned his father saying he was no longer his son. It made Lexie sad. It made her think about how her father was an alcoholic and he would drink to the point where he couldn't even remember who Lexie was anymore. "I'm glad we came, too," Lexie said as a weak smile came across her face and slowly vanished a few seconds later. She could see he was trying to forget about it after he spoke of his father and just focus on the games so she too tried to change the subject. "Hm, maybe," Lexie said, feeling a bit confident but not too much that she would beat him. As they got onto two player mode, it took a moment for Lexie to actually understand what to do on her own so at first navigating around had been slow and confusing. She laughed, "Okay, this isn't as easy as it looked," Lexie said in the beginning. The brunette slowly found her ways around the game and eventually learned what did what and how but would always get tricked up. Still in second place, she tried as fast as she could to climb up to first. "I think it's safe to say I'm having a bit of trouble," Lexie said with a laugh, attempting to fight with the player.
