She sighed happily after the kiss, settling back into prepping the tray of champagne as she had been doing. “I do, it’s a great turn out. Can you believe we had such a busy year?” The party always hosted friends and clients, many of whom had become friends. But this event was always aimed toward business. “And I’m glad we finished the front room before everyone got here. Thank you again for that.” 

"Baby, we always have a busy year." He laughed, rolling his eyes as he crossed his arms over his chest. It had always been that way - even in school. "Of course. Besides, you did most of the hard work. I couldn't match a sofa to drapes if my life depended on it."

Edith hummed as she felt her husband wrap around her. She loved when he did that. “Hey baby. Are you having a good night?” She asked as she looked up and back at him, waiting for her kiss.

"It's better now. " He murmured, grinning as he gave her exactly what she was looking for, kissing her softly. "It's better than usual this year, don't you think?" He went on more seriously, coming to lean against the counter beside her.

With a laugh, Liam rolled his eyes. "Caught me." Pulling his piece of tile away from the saw, he held it up for inspection and nodded. Laying it carefully on the grass next to the island, he grabbed another. "I'll remember that if we ever decide to renew our vows." Liam snorted another laugh. "What about you? No other half yet?"

Edith smirked up at him as she took her sweater from him. “Thank you my love.” She trilled as she leaned up and closed the gap between them. His kisses were still so much like a drug she could never get enough of them. 

"Mmm." He hummed as she pulled away, sighing lightly and turning to grab himself a sweatshirt to put over his tee. "So where are you off to, then?"

“No it’s fine, if I could get your number or business card or something?” Cole questioned. “Just so I can send my boss your way.”

"Hmm? Oh, yeah, of course." Liam nodded, he should have thought of that. Pulling his wallet from his back pocket, he rifled through until he found a business card that was still crisp. "Here - I really do appreciate it."

“I know. I thank my lucky stars almost every day.” Astrid laughed softly. “I’m offering, and asking for a chance to see my other favorite person. I haven’t seen her in so long. I should impose and invite myself over for dinner more often.”

"It's not imposing if you're always welcome." He rolled his eyes fondly. "You know that's not just something we say to be polite, right? Like we actually want you to stop by - even if you don't feel like helping us work."

Liam came up behind her as he found her in the kitchen - these moments were few and far between every year, but he always managed to steal a few minutes alone with her. Resting his head on Edith’s shoulder he sighed happily, kissing the skin on the side of her neck. “Hey, you.”

“Well, no surprises there,” David chuckled teasingly as he began to spread just enough of the mortar to begin his section. “I’m still not one hundred percent certain you haven’t got her under some kind of love potion.”

“If you’d been in Potions with me you might change your mind.” Liam laughed, shaking his head as he fed his piece of tile through the saw. Squinting against the sparks it sent up, he went on. “And everyone knows that most store bought potions are crap.”

Edith rolled her eyes, though her smile gave her away. She stepped up to him, leaning up and into him. Her lips just above his. “Promise.”

Unable to stop himself from grinning as she stepped into him, he tried not to move, the anticipation of her body so close to his sending coils of excitement through him. A low growl rumbled through his chest as she spoke, and he licked his lips. “Well, then - here you go.” He murmured, handing her the sweater with a playful look.

“I completed my Budget report about a week before I opened and I still don’t think it was done correctly,” Charlie admitted. “I kept putting it off and I was almost not able to open. I know it sucks but i’m sure you will get it done one time.” She smiled. “Im Charlie, by the way. I own this place.” She said gesturing to the shop around them. 

Liam chuckled, nodding along. “I know the feeling. Unfortunately I do about four or five a month.” With a light sigh, he closed his laptop, glad to have an excuse to put it off for another minute or two at the least. “Liam.” He introduced himself, holding out his hand. “You have a beautiful shop, the architecture is amazing.”

“That and all the pickle jars I can’t open.” She teased back leaning into the next kiss he gave. She hoped the warmth that washed over her with every kiss never went away. “I think you do these things on purpose, build tall shelves and buy tight jars just to have a purpose other than loving me and letting me love you.” 

“Ah, of course, the pickle jars.” He responded easily, grinning boyishly down at her. He held it just out of her reach, a devilish look glinting in his eyes. “Now, before you can have this you have to promise you’ll let me take it off you later.” He purred, winking.

Astrid rolled her eyes, “You’re the worst you know. Mother will be just as upset as me, I hope you know.” She was distracted by a pair of children in dragon costumes. She couldn’t wait to have children. “How’s the shop, Liam? Do you need any help?”

“I am not the worst. Just be glad that I had the poor luck of being born first, so all the pressure is not on you. You’re welcome.” He smirked, shrugging easily. “We could always use help, if you’re offering. But it’s good. Busy, but nothing we can’t handle.”

“You can tell the coach that then,” David snorted a laugh as he brought the mortar over, ready to spread it over the blank counter top. “We’ll see. What about you then? How’s that wife of yours anyway?”

“Give me his number, I’ll give him a call, we can have a chat.” He grinned, wiping the sweat from his forehead before he reached for his goggles. Putting a silencing charm on the tile cutter, he picked up his first piece, weighing it in his hand as he answered. “She’s good, man. Still too good for me.”

“I’d have to check with my boss, but I would say yes,” he replied. “But I’d have to get back to you on that.”

“I appreciate it, really.” He smiled at the thought, getting excited. “I could give you a percentage, if that would help.”

There were very few people he would let work on his personal projects like this - namely one. David. He was glad he’d shown up, enjoying the company as he worked. “Only if you stop flying like a seventeen year old.” He said off handedly, holding one of the pieces up and squinting. “Which you haven’t, so I think you’re safe.”

“It’s not about flying recklessly,” he sighed, checking on the consistency of the mortar with a trowel. “There’s a reason you don’t see many pro players over thirty. They think our reaction times are slowed, that we’re not in shape enough… plus if they get a young newbie out they can start them out on a cheaper pay which always helps.”

"I didn't mean recklessly, I meant well." Liam rolled his eyes as his friend missed his point entirely. "You're as deft as anyone out there, don't short yourself. Not all of your fans have stuck around because of your pretty face." He grinned, grunting once as he moved his stack of tiles toward the saw.

Adding David to his team wouldn’t be the worst thing by a long shot, but he knew his friend loved flying too much for the moment. “Don’t quit - we’ll be here if you ever need a job.” Liam grinned, before taking a step back to survey what he’d done so far. “Herringbone. Maybe it could go over the corner, with an uneven edge - sort of like it’s dripping down the sides.”

“I’ll tell you what, I’ll work on the main top and you can get all fancy with your dripping down sides,” he laughed. “You know I might take you up on that if the coach decides I’m too old to keep going pro.”
