Good Afternoon!☀

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalms 23:6

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. So begins one of the most well known psalms. What we may not be aware of is that everything that follows after that verse flows out of that verse. In expressing how God was a shepherd to him, David gives us a view of the work and care of a good shepherd. He speaks to the things we are still seeking today: food, water, renewal, spiritual wholeness, and safety.

As long as we allow God to be our shepherd and walk in his ways, we, too, can enjoy the care and abundance he provides. We, like David, can expect goodness and mercy to be our constant companions in this life, and forever abiding with our God in the next!

🌅 Devotional –Renewing Your Mind with God's Truth

📖 “ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. ” – Romans 12:2

Every new week brings fresh opportunities, but it also brings new thoughts, new challenges, and new voices competing for our attention. If we are not careful, fear, worry, comparison, and negativity can slowly shape the way we think. That is why God calls us to renew our minds with His truth.

The battle for our spiritual lives often begins in our minds. What we continually think about eventually influences our attitudes, our words, and our actions. When we fill our minds with God's Word, our perspective begins to change. Instead of focusing on our limitations, we begin to see God's limitless power. Instead of dwelling on fear, we choose faith. Instead of believing the lies of the enemy, we stand on the promises of God.

Renewing your mind is not a one-time event, it is a daily decision. Every day we choose whether we will allow the world to define our identity or whether we will embrace what God says about us. His Word declares that we are loved, forgiven, chosen, and empowered through Christ.

As you begin this week, spend time meditating on God's promises. Let His truth shape your thinking and guide your decisions. The more your mind is filled with His Word, the more your life will reflect His peace, wisdom, and joy.

Do not underestimate the power of a mind surrendered to God. A renewed mind leads to a transformed life, and a transformed life becomes a powerful testimony of God's grace.

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 54:17 In this life, there will be those who seek to harm or work against us. There will be those who spread rumors about us or even turn their backs on us when we need them the most, thinking to see us fall.

The common reaction to such experiences is to get angry, to want to defend oneself, to try to get even with those who are trying to hurt you. Too often, even among Christians, this is the response.

When you understand your heritage in Christ and know God's word, you will know that the proper response is one of calm and love. You already have the assurance from God that no weapon formed against you is going to succeed.

Don't fret over evil designs towards you. God is your defense!

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

There are many things competing for our attention. There are those things that need to be done daily. There are things that need to be done monthly or yearly. Then there are the unexpected things that pop up.

In the midst of all this, it is easy to lose sight of Jesus. We often make the mistake Peter made when he was walking on the water to Jesus. He took his eyes off Jesus and started looking at the waves around him. That is when he began to sink, and when we take our eyes off Jesus, we will begin to sink too.

Keep your eyes on Jesus. Do as he did and look beyond your cross to that joy that awaits those who overcome and trust in him. He will give you all you need to do what He wants you to do and be who He wants you to be!

With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding. Job 12:13

There is a song whose chorus includes the line "Looking for love in all the wrong places." Many Christians are looking for wisdom in all the wrong places. It is amazing how many will read the horoscope before they will pray. They will consult with their friends or even their pastor but not pray and ask God for guidance. We would do well to remember James' advice:

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. James 1:5-6

The wisdom we need is easily available to us. All we need to do is ask God for it. He is the source of true wisdom. We can trust his guidance.

Do not look for wisdom in the wrong place. Ask God!

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. [26]His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Matthew 25:23,26-27

All of us have abilities of one kind of another. Even a child is noted for what he or she can do. Some have extraordinary abilities far above the norm. All are given by God to be used for the good of all and to glorify him.

Like any who invests, God expects a return on his investment in us and holds us accountable for what we do with the abilities he gives us. Whether we have many or few, we are expected to improve on and increase what we have. Diligence and consistency with fruitfulness will be rewarded. Laziness and idleness with a negative attitude will be punished.

As you read the parable (Matthew 25:14-30), please note the warning in verse 29:

For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Use the abilities you have. Work to improve them. Use them to be a blessing to others and glorify God as often as you can!

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11

When we look in the mirror, we expect to see an image of ourselves. We would think it odd if we looked in the mirror and saw someone else!

We are made in the image of God. We were created for his glory. That being so, others should be able to see the resemblance between God and us. We should be even as a mirror, reflecting the image of God to the world. Our conversation and actions should be for his glory, reflecting who he is and his love for the world.

We are not our own. We did not make ourselves. We were bought with a price:

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:20

Not being our own means we are to shine for him:

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

It is not about us!
