i can’t even begin to tell you how happy the FR lore update makes me. it may have taken a while but i’m so happy and proud of the staff on @flightrising for listening to their userbase and making these changes.

it may not seem like much to some people, but for many many people of color, especially black and indigenous people of color, this is a massive deal. it means a lot to us to no longer have to confront the looming darkness of colonialism on the dragon pet sim site we love

On the one hand I know the giant things bugging (attacking? Menacing?) The harpies aren't ancients, but imagine for a moment that the wind ancient ends up being a giant of unimaginable size that just floats through the upper atmosphere as a filter feeder in a sort of reverse deep sea gigantism situation. The bigger you are the more efficient your metabolism, and with the help of magic there doesn't need to be an upper size cap on flying things, I mean look at the dragons we already have! I know it probably won't end up going this direction with the wind ancient, but a bug can hope

I really gotta stop looking at the thread for my own good cuz some of the shit y'all have written makes me think if I shook y'all's heads around, I'd just hear marbles clattering around those empty craniums. I'm glad the mods are working to remove the inflammatory and correct the straight-up incorrect posts, but still, oh my god, the one I saw a minute ago left me baffled.

Conflict with the Beastclans is not gone, just the parallels and trope alluding to colonization cuz it was unintentional, poorly thought out, and didn't fit the site. They're making an effort to put the Beastclans on equal footing with the dragons, which opens up tons more lore options and storylines without the need for fantasy colonizer implications.
