brokengcmini:
âSometimes itâs harder to remember that than it should be.â
âI donât blame you for that. We all forget.â
brokengcmini:
âYou think?â
âYou should know better.â
brokenbcnnett:
Bonnie wasnât sure how to take her daughterâs response when she did receive it. She wanted to believe her, and on this occasion, she did, but that didnât stop herself from wondering whether her daughter was lying to protect her, just as she had done so many times before. âIâm happy to hear that."Â
She could see the skepticism in her motherâs eyes. âYou seem better,â she offered, more so as a reason to believe that she was doing better herself. She knew it would take longer -- she didnât expect someone like her mom to just get over what happened to her, but she was here, wasnât she?
brokenbcnnett:
âIâm glad.â There was a pause as the Bennett looked at her daughter, craving those memories now more than ever, and knowing just how impossible that might be. âHow have you been by the way? I really havenât gotten the chance to ask you.â
Lila had been dreading that question in particular, but by the time it came around, she was less worried about answering. âIâve been doing pretty good, actually. Considering.â And she meant it. Everything was a hot mess but it was livable, and people were moving on, including her.
brokenbcnnett:
âDoesnât make it any less embarrassing.â Bonnie replied with a smile of her own, trying to keep things light for both of their sake. âI can understand why.â
âI liked it. It brought back good memories.â
brokenbcnnett:
There was a moment of silence between the two before Bonnie asked âIâve told you that before, havenât I?â. It hadnât occurred to her before, that while she blabbered on, she might very well be telling her daughter something sheâd known for years. It was frustrating, and almost humiliating to consider, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it. Though, she tried to push it aside, and couldnât help but laugh and admit âIâm not even sure I want to imagine him with his top button undone. Itâs like those suits are just a part of him.â
Lila offered her a sweet smile. âIt wouldnât be the first time you told me something a couple times over. Thatâs a normal thing people do. You just.. have amnesia. You have the better excuse.â The witch laughed softly. âThey are. Itâs why we let him live his life.â
brokenbcnnett:
âI used to love it. Donât tell anyone, but Grams wasnât much of a cook.â Bonnie laughed gently, squeezing her daughterâs hand as she spoke. âYeah, the grill isnât really a suit and tie kind of place.â
âOur little secret,â the girl mused, though the gossip wasnât all that new -- though she dare not take that from her mother. âIt was almost magic how different he could look without his top button done. Like a completely different man.â
brokengcmini:
âHad to be better than being in a box, right?â
Lila playfully pinched Joâs elbow. âWrong answer.â
