Lila: RECEIVING YOU LOUD AND CLEAR!!!!!
brokengcmini:
“Sometimes it’s harder to remember that than it should be.”
“I don’t blame you for that. We all forget.”
brokengcmini:
“You think?”
“You should know better.”
brokenbcnnett:
Bonnie wasn’t sure how to take her daughter’s response when she did receive it. She wanted to believe her, and on this occasion, she did, but that didn’t stop herself from wondering whether her daughter was lying to protect her, just as she had done so many times before. “I’m happy to hear that."
She could see the skepticism in her mother’s eyes. “You seem better,” she offered, more so as a reason to believe that she was doing better herself. She knew it would take longer -- she didn’t expect someone like her mom to just get over what happened to her, but she was here, wasn’t she?
brokenbcnnett:
“I’m glad.” There was a pause as the Bennett looked at her daughter, craving those memories now more than ever, and knowing just how impossible that might be. “How have you been by the way? I really haven’t gotten the chance to ask you.”
Lila had been dreading that question in particular, but by the time it came around, she was less worried about answering. “I’ve been doing pretty good, actually. Considering.” And she meant it. Everything was a hot mess but it was livable, and people were moving on, including her.
brokenbcnnett:
“Doesn’t make it any less embarrassing.” Bonnie replied with a smile of her own, trying to keep things light for both of their sake. “I can understand why.”
“I liked it. It brought back good memories.”
brokenbcnnett:
There was a moment of silence between the two before Bonnie asked “I’ve told you that before, haven’t I?”. It hadn’t occurred to her before, that while she blabbered on, she might very well be telling her daughter something she’d known for years. It was frustrating, and almost humiliating to consider, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it. Though, she tried to push it aside, and couldn’t help but laugh and admit “I’m not even sure I want to imagine him with his top button undone. It’s like those suits are just a part of him.”
Lila offered her a sweet smile. “It wouldn’t be the first time you told me something a couple times over. That’s a normal thing people do. You just.. have amnesia. You have the better excuse.” The witch laughed softly. “They are. It’s why we let him live his life.”
brokenbcnnett:
“I used to love it. Don’t tell anyone, but Grams wasn’t much of a cook.” Bonnie laughed gently, squeezing her daughter’s hand as she spoke. “Yeah, the grill isn’t really a suit and tie kind of place.”
“Our little secret,” the girl mused, though the gossip wasn’t all that new -- though she dare not take that from her mother. “It was almost magic how different he could look without his top button done. Like a completely different man.”
brokengcmini:
“Had to be better than being in a box, right?”
Lila playfully pinched Jo’s elbow. “Wrong answer.”
