“Just visiting some family, nothing too exciting. Sounds like they’re piling on the work up at the castle. Are any nice teachers giving you less work?”
“Oh, of course! Over the break, how silly of me to ask that. Where does your family live?” Mary laughed, “Even the nicest teachers have been piling it on. My favourite teachers tend to be the ones that give us the most, though. I’m not quite sure how that happened.”

“I don’t see how anyone could forget they’re there.” She smiled at her as the paintings argued. “It was good, surprisingly. I had a good time. Yours?”
“Well - no, me either.” Mary laughed, shaking her head. “You did? That’s wonderful to hear! Mine was alright, nothing too exciting, although it was nice to see my parents! And my brothers are a menace, as always.”

Bertha nodded, slightly surprised that Mary seemed more knowledgeable than she would have given her credit for. The brunette allowed her lips to quirk. “The bludgers do just about everyone in if they don’t have a stick,” she finally muttered, leaving out the fact that she could outfly a bludger if she needed to. “The ones here have gotten to where they enjoy harassing us. We don’t listen to them either,” she responded somewhat helpfully as she shrugged. “The ones at home have known me since I was a child. They aren’t a problem.”
Mary laughed, once again despite herself. “True. I’ve seen some pretty incredible maneuvers from the Gryffindor Quidditch team to outfly bludgers though.” There, it was sort of a compliment without being too direct, that was good enough for Mary. That was a good point. “Alright, I suppose our classmates can be just as rude to the paintings as they are to us, but still, I was doing nothing more than minding my own business! The ones here have known us since we were children too! If only we could trade them in for the well behaved paintings”, she raised her voice at the end, getting a few more shouts from the wall behind them.

Remus tried to return her smile, but he was still slightly concerned, “Yeah, they don’t give you much warning sometimes, do they?” He agreed. One second the painting would be empty and the next it could be filled with all sorts of random figures. Sometimes at very inconvenient times. “I’m not sure. How old was he?” Remus asked, “Because the only time I’ve heard someone be called a wrench was in Shakespeare and I think it was a compliment. Like ‘a lovely girl” or something.”
“They seriously don’t. I mean, I’m sure there are some lovely portraits but I’ve yet to come across one that is even remotely helpful. In fact, some of them can even be downright unkind.” Mary laughed, pointing to the Medieval painting of a Nobleman who was now sitting down with crossed arms, as if affronted that Mary had deigned to speak about him. “It was that one, he looks quite Medieval, doesn’t he? Oh alright, well that makes it better, I suppose. Still, though.”

I just made myself sound like a weirdo, didn’t I? I like reading muggle gossip magazines sometimes. Let’s go with that, that sounds more normal.
Something you wish you were better at?
Is it kind of sad that I want to say everything? I feel like there isn’t really anything that I’m great at, I’m just okay at a lot of things.
If I had to pick one though, I’d like to become better at walking without tripping over my own feet. I blame my legs, my Mum always jokes about how I haven’t grown into them yet #tallgirlproblems
Is there anyone you would die for?
Merlin, this got kid of sad kind of quick. Yeah, there are lots of people I would die for. I hope you’re not asking me this because you plan on murdering anyone.
Favorite TV show?
I honestly don’t watch telly at that often, but if I had to pick, it would definitely be Planet Earth. I don’t know why I love it so much, but I’ve always really loved nature so I guess it makes sense!
Would you be interested in being the subject of a graphite sketch? (Even if it was a tiny bit gory?)
Wait - someone wants to sketch me?! I would be totally interested! I’ve always wanted to be drawn but - well no one’s ever asked, and I reckon that’s kind of a pretentious thing, you know, to ask if someone will sketch you.
…Wait said sketcher wouldn’t stab me for like, artistic effect or anything right?? Because if so that could drastically change my answer. (I don’t mind gore as long as it’s not real life.)

Who's your favorite person in each house?
Okay, this is just cruel! How am I supposed to list just one person? I’m going to have to cheat but I’ll try not to cheat too much.
Gryffindor: Lily and Marlene and Remus and Peter. Sirius and James too but this is really cheating I’m so sorry.
Hufflepuff: Doe is of course my favourite person in this entire world. Ted is also always a fave.
Ravenclaw: Amelia, I don’t know what I would do without her.
Slytherin: Andromeda without a doubt!

“If you’re going to be another person to sing Happy Birthday to me, please do one of two things. One, stay on pitch. Two, please don’t,” said Amelia, half-heartedly looking up from her book as she sat in the Great Hall. “I don’t need any birthday wishes or songs, I just need to finish up some research.”
Mary ignored the strange looks that were being thrown her way as she trailed a helium balloon behind her, not doing the best job of hiding it but also not caring. When she finally spotted her friend, she took in a breath to start singing, but was interrupted. Deflating a little, Mary sat down beside the blonde and smiled, offering her the balloon. “Okay, okay, fine. I won’t sing. That’s probably good anyways, my brothers say they’d rather hear someone rake their fingers up a chalkboard than listen to me sing.” She shook her head, “Okay but do you have time for birthday balloons?”
“BIRTHDAY!” The balloon shouted, and Mary jumped, half of the Ravenclaw table turning their attention to the two girls. She laughed sheepishly, “Sorry, I tried to charm it to sing Happy Birthday but that’s as much as I got. There should have been a ‘Happy’ in there too.”
