Normally this is where the fiery male would throw a tantrum or say something mean — but he couldn’t find it in himself to do. He hadn’t meant Conrart at all, not consciously at least. There couldn’t be much to say when Yozak, Conrart’s best friend, was better at keeping in touch with him than his own brother over the years. His arms fell limp at his sides, all the fight lost in him. This wasn’t a reaction many could draw from him.

He's reluctant, but he wants to reach out and grab a hold of the other's arm. He wants to comfort him in the way that he used to be able to when it seemed like no one else could.
But it's not the same hand that held him long ago.
