≻ is your muse sensitive, or do they have a thick skin ?
≻ is your muse the jealous type ? are they possessive ?
— i think he pretends that he has a thick skin and tries to portray it as such, but secretly is more sensitive than one thinks. he takes a lot of what is said to him to heart and internalizes it.
— unfortunately yes, he can get very jealous. his jealously isn’t as bad as it was in his teenage years, but it’s still something he struggles with. he does his best to not be possessive and i wouldn’t say that he is, either.
≻ what is your muse's most transformative experience ?
≻ is your muse a people pleaser ?
— his most transformative experience was when he left harry and hermione in the middle of the horcrux hunt. he got a feel for what it was like to be in pure survival mode, and he also immensely regretted his behavior. he now understood why dumbledore gave him the deluminator. it was also his first experience of being truly by himself, which was new for him, and taught him a lot about self-reliance and about himself.
— ron is not a people pleaser. he has no trouble getting into arguments or ruffling someone’s feathers.
Only when he’s going through something truly deep or rattling, like post-Battle of Hogwarts. Otherwise, he does his best not to think too much about his own emotions and processes, as it just leaves him confused and feeling worse (though therapy would probably help him sort that out). He has lots of insecurities stemming from childhood and he’s gotten into the habit of pushing those away, pretending they’re not there. If you’re really close to Ron, then he may be introspective about his relationship with you. Otherwise, he’s just taking life as it comes, and is trying to go with the flow.
ron’s breath caught in his throat when he heard his old classmate’s question. among the regrets he had was his treatment, and how he enabled the treatment, of marietta. looking back on it now, permanently scarring a girl’s face was horrible. his first instinct was to say, i didn’t actually think that anyone would tell on dumbledore’s army to that pink toad. but, a skill ron developed as he aged was to think before he spoke, and he tried to come up with something better.
“i don’t hate you . . . the only people i still hate are death eaters. and a lotta slytherins. i, um . . .” he sighed, as he knew that there was no way to explain his past behavior where he didn’t come off as an absolute arsehole. probably because his behavior was pretty arsehole-like. “i guess i never knew what to do about it, y’know? you don’t . . . you never deserved what happened to you. and honestly, i was too cowardly to approach you after it all. i figured there was nothing i could say that’d make up for it.”
after a few moments of awkward silence, ron finally said, “i am sorry about my role in it. i could’ve told hermione to not, uh, do that, and i didn’t.”
I would say unpredictable, considering the fact that Ron definitely rises to the occasion when need be, and he’s often “turned the tables” in the Harry Potter books:
His parents definitely did not expect him to take Arthur’s car to rescue Harry with Fred and George
He and Harry also impulsively stole Arthur’s car (second time for Ron) to get to Hogwarts instead of waiting for his parents
Ron standing up to Sirius on a broken leg
Ron believing that Harry would put his name in the Goblet of Fire
Ron walking out on Harry and Hermione during the Horcrux hunt
Ron surprising Hermione by insisting that they free the house elves during the Battle of Hogwarts
He is definitely impulsive and doesn’t tend to think things through. He’s surprised even himself with what he’s done since the war and the life choices he’s made. He’s not unpredictable in the sense that he’s not rash, he won’t unnecessarily risk himself or the ones he loves. However, when under pressure and facing danger, he is surely unpredictable and will do whatever he needs to to protect someone.
i would say either him taking his father’s flying car to hogwarts with harry (and subsequently crashing it in the whomping willow) or him walking out on harry and hermione during the horcrux hunt.
for the first one, he and harry definitely could’ve waited until molly and arthur realized that they weren’t there and came off the platform lol.
and for the second, slytherin’s locket definitely played a part in it, but it was still very rash and impulsive for ron to walk out and apparate away. he did immediately regret it but it still happened and thankfully, he made his way back to them.
i think ron has a better and closer relationship with his arthur, his father, than he does with his molly, his mother. something about being around molly makes ron feel like he has to spend a lot of energy to keep up with her. that’s not a bad thing, but sometimes he doesn’t know how to handle it, or how to talk to her. one of his insecurities is that he is “least loved by the mother who craved a daughter”, as he worries that molly loves him the least out of his siblings. he doesn’t believe in that as much as he used to, but he still feels self-conscious around her. still, he loves molly as much as he loves any other member of his family, and he strives to make her proud. he wants to feel closer to her and more secure in their bend.
with arthur, ron finds things to feel easier around him. from everything hermione has taught him about the muggle world, he can talk to his dad about that and i think that’s something the two of them would be able to bond over. he’s always admired arthur for being such a hard worker at the ministry and felt protective over him after he was attacked by nagini. ron struggles to talk to both his parents, but arthur does feel a little bit more approachable than molly to him. he feels like there is less risk of him being judged or chastised. ron wants to prove himself to both his parents, prove that he is as good and talented as his siblings are, prove that he’s worthy of their love and care. he knows how much his parents have done for him, and how much he’s worried them over the years, and he feels a lot of guilt for that. it weighs on him heavily.
“her dedication. when she commits herself to something, she goes all in, and nothing can deter her. i’ve seen it in dumbledore’s army and her fight to free the house elves. she won’t let anything or anyone stand in her way. i’ll admit that i wish i could be more like that sometimes . . . like this immovable, unstoppable force.”
the first time he successfully rode a broom. it was one of his older brother’s, but that didn’t matter to him. he had his siblings cheering for him as he finally got off the ground without falling over. even percy picked his head up from his book to clap for him. ron felt like he was on the top of the world, and he’d forever cherish the freedom he felt being able to fly through the air so quickly.
ron huffed, kicking a stray twig that had fallen on the ground as they walked along. “oh, trust me, even if i was as tall as a beanstalk, fred and george would’a still found ways to mess with me,” he said, chuckling at the memories of his brothers messing with him that he could now find mirth in. his childhood self would be appalled if he saw him now but, with everything they’ve been through, it sometimes felt silly to get hung up on silly pranks, especially now that fred was gone.
even years later, he felt the loss of his brother just as strongly as he did when that explosion first happened. george hadn’t been the same since then — perhaps none of them truly was. ron liked to tell himself that he hadn’t changed much, but deep down, he knew it was a lie. in some ways, he was glad to have grown out of being a foolish teenager and in other ways, he longed for a time where he was surrounded by family and friends.
“we should head to george’s store sometime. he’s got a lotta good products — they’re clever. and hey, you’re still technically an investor, you gotta be a good businessman,” ron said. he’d always admired harry for giving his triwizard tournament earnings to the twins, and he regretted that they spent most of that school year not speaking.
ron has a different relationship with each of his siblings!
bill — ron has always (and probably always will) looked up to bill, as he’s the eldest. he’s wanted to be like bill, to be as cool as he is, to be as easy-going and relaxed. their large age gap makes it a little hard to relate to bill and be close, but he still feels like they maintain a good relationship. he always knows that he can turn to bill when he needs to. ron will forever feel indebted to him for how he and fleur took him in when he left harry and hermione during the hunt for the horcruxes, and for housing them as well as griphook and luna after they escaped from malfoy manor. bill is one of the few people who know a little bit about what ron went through when he was separated from his friends. it was a dark and difficult time, and he might not have had the courage to go back if not for his brother.
charlie — ron wishes that charlie hadn’t moved to romania and he wishes that he had more memories as a child and teenager of charlie. the memory of him helping them out with hagrid’s dragon in his first year will always be one that he cherishes, and he does think that charlie’s profession is very cool. out of all his siblings, ron probably brags about him the most to others. although they may not be extremely close, he loves charlie as much as his other siblings, and would always welcome the opportunity to grow closer to him.
percy — ron has never particularly liked percy as much as his other siblings, and he’s ashamed to admit that. ever since percy was captured and tortured, he’s realized how much he failed as a brother. he regrets making fun of percy when he was younger. although he did not appreciate percy telling him to stay away from harry during his fifth year, percy was the only one in the family who congratulated him on being prefect. that was something that meant a lot to him and still sticks with him as an adult. ron wants to make up for his mistakes and be closer to his brother now.
fred — although he was often annoyed with fred for playing pranks and teasing him as a child and teenager, ron misses him a lot and he took his death very, very hard. that has changed him forever and it was very hard for ron to get through his death. fred truly brought a special kind of light and happiness to the room. there’s so many things that ron wishes he had said to fred while he was alive, and he hates that fred won’t be able to go to his wedding. he has definitely put fred on a bit of a pedestal, but he loves him very much.
george — after ginny, george is the sibling that he’s closest to. he’s taken the opportunity to bond with him following fred’s death and he feels that he’s learned much more about his brother now. he is incredibly loyal to all his siblings, but he’ll especially look out for george and will always stick by his side. ron feels that he can tell george anything, even though he finds it difficult to express his emotions at times.
ginny — out of all his siblings, ron has always felt the closest to ginny due to them only being one year apart. still, he does feel that he needs to look out for her and make sure that she’s safe. he knows that she’s more than capable of protecting herself, but he wants to be a good big brother. although he won’t ever admit it, he wants to make her proud. ron will always feel guilty over not seeing that something was going on with her during her first year, and that he wasn’t able to help her in the chamber of secrets. as adults, he wishes that they were closer and that they’d talk more. a part of him doesn’t understand her relationship with draco, but he respects it and if he makes her happy, then that’s good.
what is your favorite toxic quality about yourself?
i wouldn’t say that ron has a certain favorite toxic quality about himself. he is definitely aware of all the traits/parts of himself that he believes are flaws and he doesn’t like them at all. however, he does have a knack for annoying people. usually this is his little sister and his brothers, as well as hermione. hermione and ginny especially were the targets during ron’s teenage years. if he were to have a favorite quality, it’d be that. he especially loves when he gets to annoy the twins because of how they tormented him during his childhood. ron can also be quite aloof/oblivious. while this isn’t a favorite quality of his, he doesn’t seem to notice it as he is, well, oblivious to his own obliviousness.
