Michael Buble Concert
We went to Michael Buble on Friday and it was a blast. We had chosen the credit card redeem when we bought our tickets and had since forgotten what our seats were. (With credit card redeem you don't print the tickets, you check in with your credit card when you arrive at the venue and they give you the tickets.) We couldn't figure out how to see what they were online either, so we were quite surprised when the usher took us to the center section aisle seats in the 4th row! Yay! It's a great surprise when you buy good seats then forget about it! Especially for such a fun jam packed concert. It was an eventful night with quite a few incidents to make it very memorable.
Wow! What a great concert it was! Michael Buble is so nice and genuine! He started out with Fever, which was awesome. Then did a little talking, and in the middle of it was distracted by a sign in the crowd. A lady had made a very sparkly sign lit up with xmas lights! It was very nice looking, must have took a while! He brought it up on stage and it said "Michael Buble, you are my bucket list, please sing with me" And he did! He sat down next to her and sang Something Stupid at her request. It was adorable! Then he gave her a big smooch on the lips! I was so surprised, I couldn't believe he did that!
Oh, and there was another thing I couldn't believe he did. In the middle of the concert, I noticed a few security people standing in the aisle right by me. Then Michael came down the steps right into the aisle as he was singing. He meandered his was down the aisle right through the people! Ahhh! I was so excited! (remember: aisle seats!) He was coming down the rows facing away from me, much to my disappointment. But, just as he reached my row, he turned around, so I reached out my hand to him, and he reached for mine! HE HELD MY HAND! For the next few steps he held on as he passed by. I stretched my arm and leaned over as he went, and he didn't even let go to touch someone else! Eventually, he was too far and our hands slipped apart, but I didn't care. I was happy the rest of the night.
Another fun part was when the confetti burst out all over the crowd. I remember being at Bruno Mars when that happened and being really jealous that we didn't have seats on the floor to play in the cloud of sparkles. Well, these weren't sparkles, but boy was it fun! We must have been in the prime confetti section because there was so much that the floor and our seats were completely covered. I saved some for a souvenir. :)
Interestingly we were pretty close to the fair grounds, and it was the last weekend of the fair. (Not so great for traffic on the way.) Anyways, they shoot off fireworks every night at the fair, and Friday was no exception. Michael was singing a soft slow song, and in the background you could hear these far off sounding booming noises. He stopped singing, and asked if we heard that. We told him it was fireworks from the fair, and he had the best reaction. He said "The fair! What are we all doing here? We're missing the fair!" So then he was like, lets hurry this show along so we can go to the fair, and proceeded to sing the song much faster. Haha!
Overall, Michael was awesome live. He sang mostly his popular classics with a few more recent inserts (he sang Get Lucky by Daft Punk while going down the aisle). He has a great personality and is very entertaining. I really enjoyed the show!
San Diego Trip September 2013
Here are pictures form our trip to San Diego in September. There's lots of sunsets because that was the best part! Enjoy!

Dress Like Lisa Nelson Day
At work during the summer we have Hawaiian Shirt Day every friday. Typically only a few of the guys participate (and they are the ones that will wear the Hawaiian shirt normally.) This week, our office administrator decided to change things up a bit. She declared friday "Dress Like Lisa Nelson Day"! Contestants were to dress as me and there were shiny prizes and pink treats. Naturally I took the day as a personal challenge and had to outdress myself. Normally a sparkly shirt will do, but as you can see, I went all out with as many sparkly things as I could fit into one outfit (including my psychedelic cape from halloween)! What a blast! It was so much fun! I got to hand out the prizes and had lots of fun eating all kinds of pink stuff!

Renovation Photos
Here are photos of our new concrete floor in the bedroom, the completely remodeled master bath and the brand new master closet.
New Chicks!
Here are our new chicks! They hatched 7/15 and arrived this morning. They are so tiny! We ordered 5 americanas, 1 egyptian fayoumis, 5 blue andalusians, 2 buff laced polish, and 2 dark cornish. They are all so cute and fluffy! I wish they could stay this way forever. I love the puff on the heads of the buff laced polish, and i love the really fat looking ones. AHHH, so cute!
Saved the house from flooding today. I took this video from the edge of the garage. Then about 30 seconds later we realized the water was coming closer to being in the house very quickly! Rainer and I got soaked building little walls out of rocks to divert the water.
The chicks are three weeks old now. Getting ready for bed. Everybody wants to be the center of the pile! And they will be noisy about it.
Pink Lemonade Hair
This weekend I used kool-aid to dye my hair light pink! I've been wanting to do this for a while but had to wait until after recital. Can't have pink hair at recital! Here's how I did it. Keep in mind that my hair was bleached white before I dyed it so it was able to pick up such a light color.
1) Buy many packs of pink lemonade kool-aid from walmart (yup, thats the only place I could find it.) It has to be the powder flavor packets without sugar. The sugar will mess it up.
2) Put on gloves. Pour a small amount of water (one or two tablespoons depending on how long your hair is) into a small glass. Add 2 packets (more if long hair) of the kool-aid and stir it to get as much dissolved as possible. Pour it into a dispensing bottle like they give you in a packet of hair dye.
3) Add two parts 10 volume developer (I got it at Sally's Beauty Supply) to one part kool aid water mixture. Close the lid and shake it a lot.
4) Wet hair then towel dry so it is just damp. Apply kool-aid developer mixture to roots first then work into strands. Make sure to get it evenly worked in.
5) Let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out in the shower. Do not shampoo. Apply conditioner.
Here are our 6 new chicks we picked up on Friday to replace recent losses. They are two weeks old blue Andalusians and welsummers.
Here’s a picture of my recently completed dress. It’s for recital next weekend for our rumba piece. I copied it from a so you think you can dance costume that Allison wears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_DTbfg3UcE&feature=youtube_gdata_player Mine’s better though because I added a belt!

Backyard Flowers
Rainer has been making beautiful bouquets of flowers from our yard for the past couple weeks! They are really a nice touch!
The cicadas are starting to emerge and I’m so excited! I can’t wait till there at tons of them for me to scoop up and try out some of these recipes with. Cicada rhubarb pie anyone?
Disney Concert!
Last night, Rainer and I went to the North Carolina Symphony's "Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies." Was it magical? You betca! This was the most fun I've ever had at a symphony orchestra performance. First: the music was great! How could it not be since it's Disney? Second: They had a large screen that showed timed projected clips from the movies. And Third: (of course I think third was the best of all!) They had singers to perform selected songs. It was amazing! Not only were they singing, they were acting and dancing their way through the songs! I sat there loving every second of it. Here is a list of what was performed: An Overture of Disney Classics, The Little Mermaid (multiple songs), Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas), Beauty and the Beast (multiple songs), I Wanna Be Like You (The Jungle Book), Mary Poppins (multiple songs), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (multiple songs), Aladin (multiple songs), Pirates of the Caribbean (multiple songs), The Lion King (multiple songs), and Its' a Small World.
