HELLO and welcome!
Family, friends, and those who aren't friends yet! Feel free to say hello! Ask whatever you'd like!
i can give you a story now?
the last few times i've gone to the grocery store, it's always been at night time. when we walk to the car afterwards, i keep seeing these two stars that are really close to each other. one is really bright, one is less bright. i keep taking pictures of them. i decided they're "best friends" because they're so close. i sent them to my friend. i told her those stars are me and her. she was really happy, especially when i said she was the brighter one.
she always makes me really happy. actually, when i read that you wanted a story, she was the first person I thought of. i love her lots.
-💿
Of course you can, dove.
...what a beautiful thing. To identify with the stars in the sky, tying yourself to the celestial... And weaving it with the grounding of friendship. Your mind is beautiful, and so is your companionship.
I'm glad to hear you have someone like that <3
hey splendor.
it's been a hot minute. i'm feeling a little down today, i got sent some asks that were pretty mean. i don't know. i'm trying not to let it get to me.
i hope you're doing well, friend.
-💿
Well, friend, I imagine the people that sent you the asks weren't very happy either. It's not nice, but sometimes all people can think to do is make other people hurt. I hope you the best, and I'm sure you'll feel much better once you've had some time away from the cruelty. Time, after all, heals all wounds, and scars fade.
It's always lovely to hear from you. Next time, would you bring me a story? It doesn't have to be much. Just something that happened to you that made you happy.
{ Jingle, jingle, jingle. }
{ As per usual, you can hear the controlled echo of bells before you see him - despite his stature. }
Friend Wren~?
@listentothebellschime
[Wren turned around quickly, not alarmed, but a little surprised. She wasn't used to people coming on time]
Hey uh- splendor! Im over here!
[Wren waved towards the entity, seated on a patchwork blanket with-... drawings of questionable talent on it.]
Yes, I see, Dove.
I am glad to see you're all in one piece - and healthy, it seems?
Yep! No stabbings or uh. Anything like that.
[She rapidly pat the spot next to her. She seemed to be hiding something in her free hand]
What about you? Is everything alright? I hope that the family emergency went over fine.
{ Splendor happily sat himself down next to Wren, a few of the tendrils swishing with delight. For just a moment, that overcame the fear. }
...ah, I think everything's alright. I'd ought to check on my oldest little brother soon, but I think it may be best to leave him to his own for now. Not quite sure whether my presence would help.
{ ...not to mention that she didn't know if she was ready to see the consequences of her own actions. }
Has work been kind to you?
[She nodded along, staring into the lawn. Watching as a small bee went from flower to flower. Mostly dandelions, but the occasional daisy too.]
If my own family situation is anything to go off of... it might be good to check sooner than later, yanno?
[She cocked her head to the side, thinking for a few moments]
Work has been alright for the most part. Kids doing dumb but endearing things... also for the most part.
...Yeah, I know. It's just... always hard to be sure.
But I will, don't worry. He can't avoid me forever when he tries, it's rude to try and avoid him.
Never predictable, children! In my experience, however, its often the parents that are the problem... Oh well.
That can't be helped, to a degree.
I really hope you two figure it out uh- keep me updated, even if only like- super duper vaguely. Wanna make sure you're okay.
[She snickered at his comment about the parents]
Thats so true. Dont get me started on the amount of calls ive gotten from parents about kids not "deserving time out" or something like that
I will, Dove, don't fret. Your concern is very sweet, though, and I appreciate the fact that you care quite so much.
Ah, but I do believe you have something to catch me up on, friend?
Well of course I care- you're like, incredibly nice to me and its sorta-..
[-obvious you aren't very nice to yourself]
[She thought to herself, fiddling with the thing in her hand. Still hiding it.]
Oh uh- right. I sorta forgot about that for a moment.
Well I was here with the kiddos, and I heard screaming so of course I ran over-
Wait no- long story short I met this girl named sally, and some guy named jeff who was with her. Her uh... brother? I think she said?
You certainly deserve every kindness, dove. You emanate it, after all!
...ah. it seems I'll have to expedite that check in on my brother, lest it turns into a lecture. Little miss Sally is a sweet child, but she can't keep a secret. And Jeff...
Well, if you see him again, it's best to avoid him. He's a good kid, but not always safe company. I should rephrase - he's alright with most of the rest of Slender's flock, and wonderful with little miss Sally, but not so much of strangers.
Yeah. She seemed pretty dead-set on us all having a tea party together. Made me promise her to tell you that that has to happen now.
[She smiled, looking up at the sky]
Shes a cute kid- wait uh-... what makes jeff dangerous? He seemed like just another angsty young adult to me, but considering he knows you and your reaction to me meeting people who know you, it doesn't sound good.
Also uh- slender is one of your brothers, right? Sally called you her uncle and him her dad so it would make sense...?
... That's a question. It's... A difficult story, and one I don't know how to tell you. Slender has a habit of collecting fledglings that are capable of being dangerous, let's leave it at that.
However, Jeff is human, save his ties to my brother, so you don't have to worry about any threat of the supernatural flavor.
Oh! Yes, I've never called him by name before, have I? He's the brother I've been... Well, avoiding.
Okay so him wearing a mask was just him trying to hide his identity from the cops and not because hes hiding some sort of strange monstrous feature that would fry the brains of all that look at him?
[She asked, clarifying]
Oh uh- huh. No you haven't. If i can ask... what is he like? Especially if he works with uh.. dangerous people?
Mostly, yes. Nothing supernatural, just some identifying features.
{ ..."some" }
... My brother is not a kind man. He does his best when it comes to family, but he's always been more focused on outcomes than costs... We're something of opposites, he and I.
Ohhh so its... probably not a good thing that sally will inevitably tell him that I exist..?
[She trailed off awkwardly]
Cause I dont wanna accidentally be the source of more family drama... especially when you guys just had stuff going on...
Dove, it will never be your fault. It's just a part of a bigger disagreement we've had for a long time. He doesn't like that I'm friendly with humans, and I... Well, I do.
What about your other brother? Or uh.. brothers? I dont actually remember if you told me how many you had-...
Are they uh.. more lenient towards humans? Or are you the exception?
You could say Trender is a nice in between for the two of us. I'd say he's far more neutral than either party.
[She nodded, subconsciously picking at the grass. Trying to figure out what else to say]
So uh.. sally really wanted to have a tea party with us three-...
[She awkwardly started, unsure how to phrase it into a question]
Oh, of course she did! She loves tea parties, I'm sure you gathered...
But I don't think it's a good idea.
Given what.. little I know i can assume that.
[She mumbled back, sighing]
I tried offering us all having a party at my apartment or something of the sort, but she seemed dead set on doing it at her house
Oh, goodness, I think Slender would take my nonexistant heart if I took Sally to visit you-
He'd never let it happen, and he is her guardian. I don't think that's quite feasible, friend...
So much to everyone's dismay, it appears your brother stands between us and the tea party of a life time?
[She joked]
I uh- understand the decision though. I am a bit... worried for her. She latched onto me very quickly- if I can ask... does she have any... friends her age?
... She can't.
It's not my story to tell. And do believe me when I say I know how important that is, but it's... She isn't exactly... It's not feasible on the long term.
Oh uh-..
[She fiddled with her hands, then sighed]
Alright.
[Feels like every question I ask results in some variation of "you aren't supposed to know that"]
I apologize, friend, but a lot of these things are either going to scare you, would make my brother very mad if I told you, or simply not my story to tell. It's a breach of trust, of privacy...
It is not a lack of faith in you. I hope it doesn't feel that way.
No no i get it ive been there its just... awkward?
[She sighed, leaning against them]
Like my reality has been completely shattered, and every question I ask just feels like. Im not supposed to? I dont know.
{ A tendril wraps around Wren - loosely, it would be easy to shove away if desired. }
I don't know if it helps to say that you're right... People like me, and like Sally, and like all the others - we are hidden on purpose. It makes it hard for someone just coming into it, especially when fact about us is often blended into fiction.
[She seems to take that as a sign that she can relax a little further. Closing her eyes and exhaling for a moment]
It feels like there's no way to get answers, but i also feel like.. i dont know.
[She gave a hollow laugh, then gestured to her head]
I dont really know what I'm on about. There's just.. vague thoughts in here. Nothing is becoming words though.
I think it makes sense just fine, Dove. You're overwhelmed and under informed. You don't know what the next steps are. You know just enough to know there's something, but not enough to know what it is... Sounds like a perfect recipe for anxiety.
I could answer some more mundane questions, perhaps... If that would ease it. Could tell you about how I experience the world as opposed to human senses. Could tell you about this hellhound a friend of mine had. Oh, that friend is a fun story, actually - he loved people, but he'd never take any stupidity...
Or we could just sit here and enjoy the sky.
[She registered her words for a moment. Focusing on breathing, then letting out a slow nod]
I think i uh.. Just want to continue our talks? I dont really want to be left with my thoughts. Leads to unnecessary overthinking
Those uh.. stories sound nice. If uh-.. yeah
He wasn't exactly human either - he was uh... A demon? Definitely on the human side of the spectrum for those, though, you can imagine a guy with horns and a tail and you're halfway there. He had little patches of scales here and there, too - and I'm fairly certain his bones and joints weren't right for a human, but I never actually asked.
{ An arm joined the tendril, aiming to cradle her as cozily as possible. }
Anyway, we already know each other, we're pretty close friends at this point, and he comes to me with the most urgent expression I've ever seen on his face. Pretty relaxed man, too relaxed actually, never took anything seriously... Except, apparently, when he was trying to figure out whether I knew anything about hellhound puppies.
And I know ABOUT them, but it's not like I'm an expert. And this is clearly an emergency, so I ask him what the hell is up - and he tells me he found a hellhound. Just... Found. Now, one of the things you need to know is that mother hellhounds are extremely protective. Do you know anything about how mother bears are with their cubs? Now imagine it's a massive dog with completely silent footsteps that can sniff you out from miles away.
So, the fact that this guy isn't dead where he stands is a fairly good indication that something is wrong. He takes me to this puppy - and yeah, normal puppies arent burning hot to the touch and as big as an adult German shepherd. That's a hellhound. Old enough to eat on its own, but too young to be without its mother...
I remember a girl in my class crushed up hot Cheetos and snorted them during lunch, surprisingly she managed to get through it
Why... Why are you telling me this???
{ Jingle, jingle, jingle. }
{ As per usual, you can hear the controlled echo of bells before you see him - despite his stature. }

{ ..."some" }
{ Jingle, jingle, jingle. }
{ As per usual, you can hear the controlled echo of bells before you see him - despite his stature. }
Friend Wren~?

Yes, I see, Dove.
I am glad to see you're all in one piece - and healthy, it seems?
Yep! No stabbings or uh. Anything like that.
[She rapidly pat the spot next to her. She seemed to be hiding something in her free hand]
What about you? Is everything alright? I hope that the family emergency went over fine.
{ Splendor happily sat himself down next to Wren, a few of the tendrils swishing with delight. For just a moment, that overcame the fear. }
...ah, I think everything's alright. I'd ought to check on my oldest little brother soon, but I think it may be best to leave him to his own for now. Not quite sure whether my presence would help.

I CAN MAKE US SOME
{ Jingle, jingle, jingle. }
{ As per usual, you can hear the controlled echo of bells before you see him - despite his stature. }
Friend Wren~?
@listentothebellschime
{ Splendor happily sat himself down next to Wren, a few of the tendrils swishing with delight. For just a moment, that overcame the fear. }
...ah, I think everything's alright. I'd ought to check on my oldest little brother soon, but I think it may be best to leave him to his own for now. Not quite sure whether my presence would help.
{ ...not to mention that she didn't know if she was ready to see the consequences of her own actions. }
{ ..."some" }
Well, I do.
What's your favorite food?
Do I have to pick just one..?
