“Yeah! I’d love to.” He beamed at him to hopefully make up for the needle poke to Theo’s enthusiasm.
All was forgiven. It was one of Theo’s finer qualities. He returned Jack’s smile with one of his own, though a little less exuberant than before. Perhaps Jack wasn’t the kind of guy who got worked up over things like expensive food. That was okay. He just needed to get to know him, figure him out. “Cool. Yeah, this way!”
There was a separate fridge for baked goods, everything kept at the optimum temperature for the purpose, and Theo made no attempts to hide that he knew the way expertly well. But then, he loved food. All food. But before long, he stopped in front of the cake; a multi-layered seafoam tower of smooth fondant and white lace, topped by two little sugar bunnies.Â
“Can you believe that? This is Salmon Coal’s wedding cake. This. The bunnies? I don’t get it. Don’t get me wrong, I love bunnies, but where are the ghosts?!”
