By the way, just in case this helps someone -
COOKING - creativity is okay
BAKING - stick to the recipe (you can usually adjust sugar content to taste, though)
BREAD - wait for the right weather conditions (or engineer them), be one assertive and self-confident motherfucker because dough can feel it if you aren’t, a blood sacrifice probably helps, trust the gods
PASTRY - your God is dead, the god of gluten and madness is risen, abandon all hope ye who enter here
well that’s fairly accurate

THE CLASSIC (Toasted) - Toasted Turkey Sandwich
Comments: I realized how much deli meat I have to eat before I go home for Thanksgiving, i.e. a lot.
Ingredients: Bread, deli turkey, provolone cheese, mayo, honey mustard
Instructions: Spread some mayo and honey mustard on the bread. Add a slice of cheese and some slices of turkey, then toss it all in a panini press until toasted.
Review: It’s like the classic cold turkey sandwich except warm and delicious. Definitely the way to go when I have time to panini press it.
TOAST BUT FRENCH - French Toast
Comments: It turns out I have a slightly learning curve when it comes to making french toast.
Ingredients: Bread, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 cup milk
Instructions: Mix egg, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour in the milk. This is supposed to be done in a shallow dish. Dip both sides of bread in the mix. (I accidentally let one slice soak up too much and it turned to mush before I could toast it). Place bread on to pan on medium-high heat until it browns on both sides. Transfer to plate. Top off with syrup and eat up.
Review: I definitely let the bread soak up too much of the egg mix (I think the recipe (most recipes have 1 egg for every 2-3 pieces of bread), and because of this I don’t think I let it cook long enough. I’ll do better next time, probably.
RETURN OF THE BEST THING EVER - Strawberries and Nutella on Bread
Comments: I could almost pretend I was eating strawberries and Nutella on a pound cake, and wished I had ice cream to go with it. My roommate brought me back to reality.
Ingredients: Bread, Nutella, strawberries
Instructions: Spread Nutella on some bread. Chop up a couple of strawberries and toss them on top. Eat and savor it.
Review: I made this before, but this time I chopped up the strawberries more. Tastes the same, so next time I’ll just do it the lazy way and chop the strawberries in half.
LAZY BBQ - Barbecue Chicken Sandwich
Comments: BBQ sauce + Chicken = this, obviously
Ingredients: Bread, frozen grilled chicken strips, barbecue sauce, cheese
Instructions: Cook/thaw frozen chicken in a bowl in a microwave. When done, dump some barbecue sauce of your choice into the bowl and mix until the chicken is coated. For the bread, toss it in the toaster oven, one with a slice of cheese on it. I cooked it until the cheese was jus starting to melt (would have waited longer but I was really hungry). Pile the chicken onto the bread and enjoy your sandwich.
Review: One day I will actually cook my own BBQ chicken. Today is not that day. Still, not bad at all.
This S#!T is B-A-N-A-N-A-S - Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich
Comments: My go-to sandwich whenever I have bananas.
Ingredients: Bread, peanut butter, bananas
Instructions: Spread peanut butter on one or two slices of bread. Slice up a banana and put the slices on the peanut butter until the entire slice is covered. Top off with the other piece of bread to make that sandwich. Eat.
Review: I always try to cut the banana as few times as possible. Idk why - it doesn’t taste any different. Anyway, simple but delicious.
EGG IN A HOLE - Egg Over Easy in Toast
Comments: The name is half the reason I made it this way instead of just putting a fried egg on top.
Ingredients: Bread, egg, butter
Instructions: Warm pan on medium-high heat, and melt about 1/4 tbsp of butter in the pan. Cut a hole in a slice of bread and toss the bread sans cutout into the pan. Let it sit there for a little, then crack an egg into the hole in the bread. Cook for a few minutes. Ass another 1/4 tbsp on butter and flip the bread and egg on top of the butter. Cook until it looks done to you (aka until the egg looks cooked how you like it). Move it to a plate and eat it up.
Review: In my opinion, the eggs are best cooked easy. I used the edges of the bread to mop up the yolk and lemme tell you - it was a great. Maybe next time I’ll skip the hole part, and just top my toast with a fried egg.
CHOCOLATE MONKEY - Banana and Nutella on Bread
Comments: Some people eat this for breakfast. I could eat it all day long.
Ingredients: Bread, Nutella, banana
Instructions: Take a slice of bread and lovingly spread Nutella on it. Then chop up a banana and lovingly place them on the bread and Nutella. Maybe drizzle more Nutella on top, because it looks fancy that way. Eat.
Review: I love bananas and Nutella. After I ate this, I ate the rest of the banana with some Nutella.
THE OTHER CLASSIC - Ham Sandwich
Comments: Normally I make my ham sandwiches just like my turkey sandwiches (see post on “the classic”), but this time I decided to switch things up.
Ingredients: Bread, deli ham, pickle relish, honey mustard
Instructions: Go wild and spread a lot of mustard (I prefer honey) on both slices of bread. On one slice, spread a small spoonful of pickle relish. Add a slice of cheese and some ham, and put it all together. Enjoy.
Review: This turned out slightly sweeter than I expected, but that’s not a bad thing at all! I probably would have put pickles on the sandwich instead of relish, but I didn’t have any and discovered that the relish was surprisingly good.
GRILLED CHEESE WITH AGDs KRISTINA - Grilled Cheese
Comments: The event my sorority was supposed to have was called Grilled Cheese with AGDs, and that’s how I ended up with an absurd amount of bread. I had one of my sorority sisters (Kristina) make me a grilled cheese.
Ingredients: Bread, provolone cheese, butter
Instructions: Give ingredients to someone named Kristina. She will place two slices of provolone cheese between two slices of bread. Then, she will butter the bread. Finally, she will cook the sandwich on a skillet thing, and will give you the finished product. Thank her, then eat while warm.
Review: Kristina may burn the bread a little, but it’s still delicious. Best if many sandwiches are made and eaten with friends.
THE CLASSIC - Turkey Sandwich
Comments: My mom used to make everyone in my family sandwiches like this for lunch every single day. Thanks, mom.
Ingredients: Bread, deli turkey, provolone cheese, mayo, honey mustard
Instructions: Spread some mayo and honey mustard on the bread. Slap on a slice of cheese and some slices of turkey. Devour.
Review: A step up from peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, the simple and classic turkey sandwich reigns supreme in the lunch category (in my book, anyway). Next time I will fancy it up by putting it in a panini press.
MONKEY BREAKFAST - Peanut Butter and Banana on Toast
Comments: I like peanut butter and banana sandwiches, so toasting the bread makes it good enough for breakfast, right?
Ingredients: Bread, peanut butter, bananas
Instructions: Toast bread, slap on some peanut butter, and then slice up some bananas to top it off. I normally just cut my banana into quarters, but this way admittedly covers more of the toast. Up to you. Pop the toast into a toaster oven afterwards if you want everything to be nice and warm (because I didn’t accidentally let me toast get cold… Nope…). Enjoy!
Review: Simple but delicious. The bananas are a great improvement over peanut butter on toast.
