Always carry a book with me in case I end up in a coffee shop on my own 📖
Half term chilling 😌
I had a rough day so my parents bought me this to make me feel better ❤️
Not only is this the end of a year but it is also the end of a decade. At the start of this decade I was told by my teachers that I wasn’t good enough, I was being too ambitious and should find easier goals to set myself and that I wouldn’t cope in higher education. If you follow this blog then you know that I proved them wrong. I’m putting this here as a friendly reminder that you can do it. You can do what you want to do and no one, no matter how hard they try, can stop you. Prove all the doubters wrong and only focus on those who are willing to support you ❤️

Debating the use of social media as a teacher at my teacher training preparation for work conference 👩🏫
Hi! I’m a second-year English student, and I’m planning to go into teaching after I graduate. I was just wondering what path you took for your teacher training (i.e. did you stay at uni, registered with ‘Get into teaching’, etc) and do you have any tips/advice? 😁
Hi! So I have just started a School’s Direct route through a school in Bedfordshire that is linked with the university of Bedfordshire. It is unsalaried but if you do English you get a (rather nice!) bursary. With this course I am in school Monday-Thursday and in uni on Friday, which I quite like. You definitely have to find the right course for you. Different uni’s have different strategies so if you’d rather be more school based then look for a more school based course but if you’d rather be more uni based then look for a course that supports that. There is no right or wrong way into teaching so it entirely depends on what sort of course you think would support you most. It’s not a bad thing to start looking at courses now so you have time to look at multiple courses and compare them to find the right course for you. Also, make sure you start looking into getting your Skills Test qualifications and any other requirements you may need as it speeds up the process and means that you don’t have to spend your summer from third year to teacher training doing all these things. I hope this all helps, please do let me know if you have any more questions and what you decide to do. The English teaching community is so supportive so it’s also worth joining social media and following other English teachers for advice and tips. Good luck!
