I guess it comes from a place of being told early on that tracing is "cheating", unless it's for practice, or just some fun art you're making that you're not gonna pass off as your own. EDIT: clarifying that I don't think it's cheating, unless you're straight up tracing someone else's artwork. I was just told this a lot growing up.
