I saw a review for moonlight and one of the reviews was, “It’s a great film no matter what race you are :).”
Only on poc movies do white people do that shit. I never saw a review in the 90s for friends like, “It’s a lot of white people, but they’re pretty funny so give it a shot anyways.” I never saw shit for sienfield like, “regardless of your race, you’ll enjoy this show.”
Like fucking stop othering people of color. What the fuck.
White is not default.
We should all make a special campaign to go through and leave reviews for white movies (ie, all of them) and specifically say shit like “as a black person I find it hard to empathize with white people… but I still enjoyed it anyway. Also I though all the straight romance seemed really forced, but I guess it’s still cute.”
That would be hilarious and awesome. “Seemed kind of unrealistic? Everyone was straight? Why do straights always have to force their sexuality on us?” “Felt kind of off? I’m not a racist but there was a lot of… white people?” “Look, this movie takes place in medieval times. It makes NO SENSE for all these people to be cis.”
God, I love you ten
