This is my take on medusa. She is cursed with snakes for hair and the snakes keep biting her and poisoning her. They are relentless and she is always in pain. Her face gets swollen up as the snakes get fatter and thicker on her head. It makes her neck hurt. It makes her eyes swell shut. She is sad lonely and in pain all the time. She keeps pulling them out of her face but it hardly helps. When the snakes pry her eyelids open with their fangs her grief and pain turns the victim into stone. Its something that she actually wants for herself. Its her pain and loneliness that petrifies the person
