Little and Lytel, SHIELD Agents, not Field Agents. No relation.
When I first met Kevynne, I hated her.
I went into the first day of SHIELD training expecting certain things.
There would be all kinds of new agents, I knew that, Scientists, Field Agents, Consultants, and then Desk Agents, like me. But I kind of expected to be separated from them, at least a little bit.
What I didn't expect was to be asked ten million times about my "Scientist Sister". Okay, yeah, my sister was there, but she was there as a consultant, an expert in all things Villainy. Scientist she was not. Then I'm thrown face to face with this girl, tall, gorgeous, and completely out there, holding a rabbit of all things.
Her name was Kevynne Little. Pronounced the same, spelled completely different. I'm not small, I'm just Lytel. Needless to say, we did not get along. If only because it was annoying being asked if she was my sister, only to have people look at me in disbelief when I introduced them to my actual sister.
It's hard to believe that in a few months, we went from that direct animosity, to partners and friends.
Why they would partner a scientist with a desk agent for our final exam, I to this day have no idea. Maybe they saw something we didn't, knew we'd be able to work together. But when I saw that I had been paired with the other "Little" my heart dropped. That girl always has to be right, and her ideas of doing things "the right way" were completely different than mine. How could I trust her to watch my back when I can't even stand to look at the way she files paperwork in her desk drawer?
But I wanted to pass. I was so close to becoming a SHIELD agent, finally, that I wasn't going to blow it, and by the end of the exam, I had to respect the girl. By the end of the week, I'd found that we both still had a soft spot for Magic Tree House Books, and after a month of bonding over our mutual children's literature guilty pleasures, we were inseparable.
