a/n: oh my god i LOVE this man so much i lowkey zoned out while writing tho
you opened your eyes to a surprising sight. big fluorescent lights shining brightly upon the dormitory like area, many rows of bunks taking over the room. your bunk was placed neatly in the corner, giving you access to look at all your surroundings.
the last thing you remembered was going to the specific area the person on the phone told you to. you didn’t even remember the car ride! were you drugged? the clothes you were in right now weren’t even the clothes you came to the spot in!
you stood up from your bunk, hearing the whispers of the other confused people. there was a lot of people here, what was going on. after looking around for a bit, the big elevator doors at the front of the area pink guards in masks yapping about some game for money thing.
when a player talked back, the square guard showed their face on the big screen at the front. it was them playing the same game you played with that salesman guy. and you recognized the face of the man who spoke up immediately.
it was myunggi, the man who convinced you to invest all your money is some sort of cryptocurrency and then ghosted you for multiple weeks afterward while knowing your little brother was extremely sick and you were trying to pay off the medical bills! seems like he was also in some major debt, as deserved.
after the whole thing with the guards ended, you saw some purple haired guy confronting myunggi, seems like myunggi also got him into some major debt. you couldn’t help but avoid from looking at him. you didn’t want him knowing you were here too.
the first game felt like it passed by quickly, red light green light. you managed to pass the red line behind the doll, and your first instinct was seeing if myunggi made it, which he did. after the game, those pink guards told everyone to take a vote on the two buttons up front. x to stop the games, o to continue. you pressed x, wanting to get out here as soon as possible. but the o’s still won.
after the voting, the guards gave everyone a meal, a small packed lunch. it wasn’t the best meal you’ve ever ate, but it was something to get your energy back.
while you were eating lunch, a man approached you. he was tall, and had purple dyed hair on his head.
“señorita, excuse me” he said smugly, a grin on his face.
“what do you want?” you asked, your shoulders tensing a bit when he put his hands on them.
“i want you on my team! turn that x into an o tomorrow and i’ll protect you.”
“yeahhh… no.” you answered, grabbing his hands to pull them off your shoulders and away from you.
“just think about it señorita, or your gonna regret it when my team beats everyone.” he stated before walking off back to his friends. almost right after he left you, another man came up to you. a figure you’d recognize immediately. myunggi.
“what the fuck? why are you here?!” he asked, worry in his voice.
“because you put me into debt, myunggi.” you answered
“i thought you said you were gonna be fine on your own? you said your brother was doing fine! you said it in your messages!” he exclaimed
“well i lied. because i was tired of having to message you every single day while you ghosted me after putting me into major debt. and he isn’t doing fine. he’s part the reason im here now.”
“now go away. i don’t want to see you, you ruined my life, myunggi.” he looked like he was going to say more. he wanted to say more. but he just couldn’t find the words before walking off with a big sigh. you continue eating your meal, finishing it quickly, like it was your last. it could’ve been you last, you never know what people will do.
you sat alone while almost everybody else was in little groups, feeling extremely out of place. you didn’t want to go with the old men who voted o, the team with the weird purple headed guy, or anywhere near myunggi. then, you noticed a team off to the side. it was that strange man who somehow knew these were killing games since the beginning.
i guess that was a problem for tomorrow as the big screen announced 10 minutes until lights out and you got ready to sleep, glancing at myunggi who was staring from afar before looking away and at the floor. the lights finally turned off and you fell asleep, trying to not think about all the dead bodies you saw just over an hour ago.
the next day came loud music playing over the intercom as lights came back on. you looked around nervously, wondering what the next game would be as the guards gave out breakfast. after getting your meal you sat back down at your bed, eating your small packed meal.
after everyone ate their meal, the players got escorted to the next game. the next game was played in a big arena with blue clouds painted on the sky, and two rainbow tracks that go in a circle. the intercom spoke,
“please make teams of five for the next game.”
oh, great. thats exactly what you needed, a team game after not being at all involved in a group this whole time. you looked around nervously waiting for a team to just collect you or something like that.
and then myunggi approached you, saying your name.
“join my team, c’mon.” he said, trying the gently grab your arm before you pulled it away.
“i’d rather die.” you answered, looking at him with a cold look.
“really. you really think someone will put you on their team, look at you.” he said, frustrated you wouldn’t just forgive him.
“look, if you just come with me you won’t have to worry about that.” he added.
“no.” you answered sternly.
“i don’t want anything to do with you.”
he sighed deeply before walking away with his head down.
you stood in a corner, watching all the teams form while you were all alone. then, a man approached you, his jacket saying player 001.
“join our team. i insist.” he said, staying at the perfect distance to give you your own space. you thought for a second and you remembered seeing him with player 456, the man who was yelling about the games during red light green light.
“… okay” you answered, following him to his team as you fidgeted with your hands nervously.
“hi,” you introduced yourself as they took you into their team. they were surprisingly really kind to you, despite looking intimidating.
and then, player 456 asked you a question.
you thought for a second, before answering.
“i’m here for my little brother. he’s… really sick. i have to pay off his medical bills.” you didn’t mention the part about your ex who convinced you to invest in some cryptocurrency that failed. that’s just embarrassing.
“ah.. okay” he replied, and then the instructions for the game came on the announcements.
it was simple, each person played a different game in a race kinda way and your legs were hooked together. simple enough. you volunteered for ddakji while 390 did flying stone, 380 gonggi, 001 spinning tops, and 456 jegi. being the last group to go was difficult, silence making it uncomfortable. but luckily you guys passed! not the same for the other team however.
you entered back into the dormitory area accidentally locking eyes with myunggi when you stepped in until he looked back down at his bunk. you went back to your bunk, not realizing he followed you there until he said your name.
“please, i wanna start over with you when we get out of here. once the prize money gets higher, it’ll surely be enough for both our debts and the medical bills! and then we could live together again. listen i found another cryptocurrency that’s sure to work out.” he said. even though he was trying his best to sound sincere. he was still being a greedy man. he only cared about money and that’s it.
“no, myunggi. you ruined my life. my brother could die because of your stupid cryptocurrency. i don’t want to be around you. i’m gonna get the prize money, pay off my debts and my brothers medical bills and live a normal life. without you.”
he walked away and back to his own bunk. you did want to start over with him. but how could you if all he cared about was money? he was greedy. and that’s it.
the guards took another vote, you kept your vote as an x while myunggi still voted o. and the o’s won yet again. after the vote, it was meal time. time for another small packed lunch that was barely enough food.
you went back over to the team you were with for the last game. they were good protection, and also kind to you.
then, it was time for lights out. but you couldn’t stop thinking about how life would be if none of this crap happened. if myunggi wasn’t so obsessed with money. if your brother didn’t get so sick. if these games just didn’t exist.
all you could do was wish. and that’s it.
the next day, it followed the same routine, wake up, eat, and go to the next game. the next game being played on a large carousel. this game was called mingle and you stepped onto the carousel nervously, staying close to your team. the carousel spun around, music playing as it rotated until the intercom called out a number.
“10.” your team was already five, you just needed five more.
this went on and on and you somehow survived each one. after that round it was 4, then 3, then 6,
during number 6, you went with a team and as you guys were running, player 095 fell after getting pushed by another player, causing her to fall when we had only 3 seconds left. player 120 about to run out and get her, got pushed away while the door slammed shut by a man. it was myunggi.
095 stood outside the door, tears filling her eyes as she looked inside the room until she got shot by a guard. player 120 started screaming immediately blaming myunggi for shoving 120 away from the door.
he talked back, saying they were all gonna die if he didn’t. that he saved us. and you knew it was true. 120 wouldn’t have been able to make it in time. killing her and all of us.
“it’s true…” you stated, looking at 120.
after the guards finished cleaning up, we were let out the rooms and back onto the platform until the next number was called.
you looked around, seeing your teammates all get a person until you got snatched up, pretty much dragged to a room with myunggi. you looked up at him. not a spoken thanks, but you could tell by the way you looked at him you were grateful.
after the game, the vote became a tie between x and o. the guards told us that because of the tie, there would be another vote tomorrow morning and the crowd of people made sounds of disappointment. you stayed with your team until randomly,
“Player 230, 268, 299, 331 and player 401, eliminated.”
what? you immediately thought it must’ve been a glitch until a crowd of people came back from the bathroom, bloody and exhausted. one of the being myunggi. the o’s immediately started yelling about how the x’s attacked them until the x’s yelled that the o’s were threatening them.
you still only saw myunggi through the crowd of people, blood on his face, looking like he just went through war, and by the looks of other people. he pretty much did. everyone looked messed up. and o’s went back to their side while x’s did the same
but you could see the way the o’s were. they looked like the were planning something, and you didn’t want to know what it was. but then gihun told the team what they were most likely going to do. the were most likely gonna attack our team so they could win the vote tomorrow. and gihun and them came up with a plan to hide during the fight, and fight against the guards.
you were only gonna hide. you couldn’t fight the guards. no way. that’s when you walked up to myunggi.
“myunggi.” he looked up at you.
“i don’t know what happened in the bathroom and i don’t wanna know. but, tonight. whatever happens don’t get involved. stay under your bed.” you told him and he already gave you a small nod in agreement as you walked back to your team.
that night, as the lights shut off, you slowly creeped under your bed, as quiet as you could. and that’s when it happened.
screams filled the dormitory, sounds of stabbing, glass breaking, everything.
when the lights came on, the guards entered, taking control of the situation and that’s when it happened, gihun snapped up and took the gun from the guard to use it against him. all of the people who said they were gonna do that earlier, held up to their word.

the rebellion failed. less players came back after dae ho chickened out of bringing them ammo.
it was only hyunju, daeho, and gihun alive after the attempt at defeating the guards. gihun was absolutely devastated after losing his friends.
the next day, we got sent to the next game. this game had us go to a marble like machine, everyone either drawing blue or red. you got a red marble from the machine looking at the shine on it.
you watched myunggi draw his marble, and after everyone got their marble, the announcements explained the rules to the game called “keys and knives” kill? you were supposed to kill someone? you just couldn’t do it. which is why you swapped with myunggi after he asked.
you made your way into the arena, fidgeting with your triangle key necklace as you decided to follow hyun ju and geumja. as you were following them you heard exactly what you wanted to
“player 333, player 124, pass.”
you couldn’t help but feel relieved but then, as you were following your friends you heard footsteps behind the three of you and a red vest. the three of you darted up the stairs but as you went up, you lost your footing and fell down the steps, rolling onto the floor and hitting your face on the hard steps.
you felt a weight on top of you and fought with all your might to push it away. you could hear geumja shout your name before being pulled away by hyunju. you kicked the man in the chest, kicking them off and managed to get back on your feet. and then, from behind you, you felt a sharp pain in your back, then again, and again.
you fell to the floor, the courage draining from your body as you felt another stab in your chest, blood leaking out. the life drained from your body.
“mg coin looookkk~ i got another one!”
