I’m not a huge Yellowcard fan and haven’t listened to anywhere near all of their work…but I think their self titled album is possibly the greatest final album a band has ever put out.

What better way for a band who is known for making fun fast California beach party songs for teens, in a genre that is known for fun fast California beach songs for teens to go out than to make a slow, somber, autumny album? It’s like the album is telling you that Summer’s over, your teenage years are over, you have to let it go. Yeah, the previous release already started in that direction (at least a few songs, haven’t heard it in full) but it still doesn’t have the poignancy of the last one.

Yeah Pink Floyd sorta did this with their last album…but Yellowcard did it better (part of it is probably because they weren’t relying on unused audio of their dead keyboard player.) I’m pretty sure most Floyd fans would say The Endless River was just okay.
