I didnt get the math and computer autism i have the autism that makes me only feel mentally well if i get a job that lets me fuck off into the middle of nowhere to camp and do manual labor in 104 degree heat and get underpaid but at least im having a good time
Job season started! 📍 Fossil Creek
2026 ref for Oleander :^)
Also made a character playlist
tbh pretty dead set on a 2015-2019 sienna or odyssey for my next car. idc about the mom car aesthetics i dont want a truck i just want a boring car thats comfortable to camp in and can carry alot of dirt when needed without spending my life savings on fuel.
car review for this bad boy after driving her for a few months (1500 miles so far): if a car was a kitchen appliance itd be a 2019 1.5LT AWD chevy equinox. Boring & fuel efficent. 7/10 budget soccer mom car. Drives on badly maintained dirt roads Just Fine but could use all terrain tires when im ready to replace the tires it came with.
driven 5k miles on her and shes still golden (brown). also cleaner since im not living on a county road anymore.
Driven her 10k miles now and shes just as beautiful back in Arizona.
got a 2nd job offer with the county for park groundskeeping. They want me to start next monday & pays the same as USFS. Thinking about gas prices & wear on my car like... if i worked at fossil creek its a 45 min commute to the ranger station vs a 7 min commute to the maintence office. + itd give me a better chance at further city/county jobs after the season's over. Fossil Creek would be good for future forest/state park jobs but i rlly dont want count too much on USFS jobs in the future since things are kinda shitty rn. really torn about it, but im gonna take the maintence job and see how it is.
Ok kinda dissapointed with the county job so im just working till Fossil Creek job starts.

Did someone lose a shoelace on Mount Elden?
FUCK YES SIR!!!!! im not in seasonal job purgatory anymore (and wont need to move for this job so taking it instead of the Dolores river job)
got hired as a lube tech so guess im learning how to do car things like change oil and breaks now
That Dog in me
Weellp got laid off because of funding issues and they had to cut trainees 🙃 at least it wasnt a job i was planning on staying at long term. At this point im going to go get a dumb job till next season because its kinda almost too late for seasonal conservation work hiring.
if youre a manlet on a heavy equiptment crew you will be a valuable asset because not everyone can climb inside the belly pan compartments and do a really good deep cleaning.
sad to say even tho i love the work and guys i work with, im going to have to get out of this job ASAP. my foreman/guy interviewed with lied about a bunch of stuff about expected hours and travel compensation. I drove down through TWO (Hoosier and La Manga) mountian passes in a fucking blizzard to make it for the new project thats being started and he pulls at the end of my training week "oh great job not all new operators can do 3.5 acres in their first week also hey btw so your schedule is not going to be the agreed upon 4 day on/3 off or 7 on/7 off its gonna be 5 day on/2 day off or 6 on/1 off AND you only get paid to commute 1 trip a month AND only supervisors get to use company cars/access gas cards. also we are getting rid of our camper trailers so you cant work in the winter if you dont go buy a camper".
OK at least for now theres an agreement for 4 day weeks till the end of the project in late April after bringing it up to HR... still gonna be looking at other jobs bc of All This Is BS.
These guys are gonna be missing out. 2nd week and just today I thinned 7.5 acres (like 3 acres above the quota lol!) and climbed up a shitty hill full of rocks with the Big Fucker today. 💔 im gonna miss her I absolutely love driving this fuck you sized mulch machine around as a way to improve forest health.
