okay here are the ones I've read and enjoyed over the last few years! (don't worry about the ratings, I'm picky with 5s lol) fyi the ones by freya marske and kj charles are explicit:

Gonna latch onto like a limpet onto someone else's reply and drop my additional recs:

+ Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon and one of its prequels, Amid the Burning Flowers (which can actually be read before the original book, as it's much shorter)

+ The Cemeteries of Amalo trilogy by Katherine Addison, mystery books set in a secondary world fantasy and starring a quiet gay priest who witnesses for the dead, which often leads to solving various crimes

+ Metal from Heaven by August Clarke, a very raw, dykey book

+ Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell

The problem when I buy books is I usually prefer hardcover but I bought The Spear Cuts Through Water on a whim for my birthday and it was only in paperback at b&n. Well unfortunately I loved it and now I want a hardcover copy but that seems silly buying the book when I already own it.

Anyway go read this book. It isn’t new but I honestly love it so much.
