(PART I) Because I complained about fashion school so much this year, here’s an editorial about fashion school for you all. It’s a very long editorial, so this is just the first half. I will post the rest soon, with more information. I transcribed the introduction and did my best to translate it. 文化服装学院のクリエーターたち Creators of Bunka Fashion College 学生たちの作った服とそのスタイル わが国で最大のファッションスクール、文化服装学院。津森千里、田山淳朗、高橋盾、若林ケイジ、渡辺淳弥、丸山敬太など多くの才能を排出している割には、学 生のクリエーションの具体的な内容は、案外学外者には知られていない。今回「装苑」では、学生だからこそできる自由な発想の服を選んで、プロの作った服と 同じように写真を撮ってみた。併せて、個性的な人材に事欠かない文化の学生たちの私服のはじけぶりも見ていただきたい。 Student-Made Clothes and Style Bunka Fukuso Gakuin is our country’s largest fashion school. Despite producing talents like Tsumori Chisato, Tayama Atsuro, Jun Takahashi, Wakabayashi Keiji, Junya Watanabe and Maruyama Keita, the work of our students is suprisingly unfamiliar to the off-campus crowd. In this issue, we’ve selected the exceptionally free-thinking work characteristic of students, [I think this is something along the lines of ‘we wanted to try to photograph it in the same professional manner the clothes were made’]. There’s no shortage of unique and talented individuals among our students, so please have a look at their work.
