About Me:

Hi! My name is Elizabeth. I have many nicknames, but the one I usually go by online is Lizzy.

I identify as a bi-oriented aroace person who is omnagender (I use any pronouns, including neos). My most common pronouns are She/They/He/It/Star/Void/Aer.

I'm 25, and will be 26 come June 1st!

I'm an artsy person! I love to draw. In theory I also like to read and write, but I'm out of practice and very rusty. I play piano, too, and love to sing in the care. I also love animals, and I collect snow globes, rubber ducks, and dragon figurines!

I want this blog to be a safe space. You are welcome to be yourself here, and I absolutely will not judge on the basis of age, gender, sex, race, ethnicity, ability/disability, mental illness, class, or identity of any kind.

I am neurodivergent and mentally ill; diagnosed with Autism, Acute Anxiety, Depression, and Borderline Personality Disorder and have had medically recognized ADHD, PTSD, and C-PTSD. I am currently exploring getting a diagnosis for Partial DID/OSDD. I want to specify that I am not perfectly knowledgeable about my disorders, but I am always open to discussing and sharing experiences! And please, please, please, if I ever say something offensive or unintentionally spread misinformation, please feel not only welcomed but encouraged to reach out to me and point it out or correct it (gently, if you could). I am willing to update information and post disclaimers as needed.

I'm open to taking requests for sketches and one-shots!

I did this drawing for my Intro to Social Work class, for an assignment about my social identity and how it affects me.

For race and ethnicity I made my skin pure white. I am white, but colonization stripped most white immigrants of their ethnic value and culture, so I'm inherently sort of a blank slate, ethnically speaking. The white chains further represent my ties to white, American society, representing the weight of my responsibility to be better.

The chains have a second meaning, contextualized by the flags in the drawing. On the choker necklace is the autism infinity symbol. On the upper part of my binder is the trans flag. On the lower part of my binder is the omnagender flag. On the viewer left side wrist brace is the aroace flag, and on the viewer right side wrist brace is the bi flag. I am an omnagender, bi-oriented aroace person with autism. The gray scale blocks at the ends of the chains broadly represent the "defaults", being heteronormativity, cisgenderedness, alloromanticism, and neurotypicality, and these expectations are a part of white supremacy in America. White people, because of the cheap culture and poor exposure we have now, are raised with biases against anything that doesn't fit this expected norm, whether we realize it or not, and it is our responsibility to recognize that and actively work to unlearn those biases.

So the chains altogether represent responsibility and oppression. The white skin represents lack of ethnically valuable culture. And the rest of the image identifies who I am. Neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and disabled.

I wanted to put a disclaimer that I am still learning about a lot of these things. I'm doing my best to be responsible and informed, but I recognize that I am fallable. If there is something flawed or egregiously offensive about what I've said, I would appreciate if you (gently) pointed it out to me so I can learn more.

I'd leave off the chains. I think talking about cultural loss and the constraints of whiteness is fine, as well as the desire to do better, however the way you phrase it and visualize it will come off as you making your privilege a burden and the focus on yourself if that makes sense.

Also, white people in America do have their own culture(s) with positive and negative aspects. Including those assimilated into mainstream American WASP culture. Other peoples have their respective issues and it's better to connect with other cultures and see how you're similar and different than view yourself as entirely culturally detached.

I appreciate the feedback. You make a good point, and I don't mean to portray my privilege as a burden. I feel personally burned by the culture I do have due to my experience with religion and my negative view of capitalism, but I recognize that does not excuse how the chains can be interpreted. I could maybe have used more precise colours or symbols on the blocks to represent cisheteronormativity, because the chains dually represent the struggles I have with my identity as a queer person, but I don't imagine that fixes the problem entirely if at all.

As it stands now I generally don't like to tamper with finished art, but I want to acknowledge that this may have come across offensively in how I'm portraying my relationship with being white. I have a lot of bitterness that I sometimes let be an excuse and I apologize for that. I'll try to be more mindful of that as I go forward.
