19, she/her
Just a girl way too obsessed with fictional men
Specifically Jervis Tetch from Batman: The Animated Series, my f/o, but that's subject to change (even if I don't want it to). My goal in life is to collect BTAS Jervis memorabilia XD. Duncan will always be my pfp cause he was the foundation of this blog lol
Trying to get into digital art and writing for Jervis and an OC I'm in the process of developing.

⤷ Hello everyone! This is a blog dedicated to BTAS Jervis Tetch, my f/o. I will reblog my favourite posts of him, publish analyses / writing of his character and occasionally draw artwork of him.
⤷ While I would consider myself a non-sharing selfshipper, I'm pretty lax about it! I love seeing other people's artwork, and I'm a huge fan of oc x canon! You're more than welcome to interact with me about it.
⤷ My persona's name is Myra Carter.
⤷ I'm always open to receiving asks! It could be requests for writing, headcanons, or artwork. As long as it's SFW, anything is welcome.
⤷ Please keep in mind that I am slow to respond, usually because I want to ensure I put out my best work. I'm most active during school breaks.
⤷ More info after the break!

Ive been reading through the Batman & Robin Adventures comics looking for more instances of Eddie and Jervis, and ive gotten to Jervis's central comic, yk the one where he fakes his death to disrupt alices wedding? and im gonna be so honest yall...i dont like it. Particularly bc it feels. out of character for jervis? like, maybe im giving him too much credit here, but it always stood out to me in Mad as A Hatter that he never seemed to take any enjoyment out of carding/controlling Alice, it always came off as a desperate last resort
and Hell, Jervis practically tells us himself exactly why he didnt in the beginning of the episode, and why he tried to take her on a date to 'Woo' her naturally:
"But that would reduce her to a soulless shell. Oh, no...Not my Alice."
(Paul Dini even said in an interview about the episode "...But the main reason he did it was he was in love with somebody, and he didn't want to use that power to control her because he knew that he'd lose her, but ultimately, he had to. That drove him over the edge and drove him crazy," also in that same interview he said jervis LIKES controlling people, too)
I feel like, even despite Jervis's proneness to live out a fantasy, theres still a part of him that yearns for something Real. That WANTS something real. A real connection. and its why this comic doesnt sit right with me bc it feels like it just skips over that so jervis would mind control alice again to get her to marry him instead. To me, by the end of MaaH, Jervis knows its a lost cause, and he moves on to other more Rogueish pursuits. Or at least, thats my opinion on the matter. Though i will also clarify this is not me excusing his actions he 100% deserved to get his ass kicked (hes a selfish prick), im just particular about nuances of character i suppose lol. I really need to write up some kinda character analysis post for him…
(and hey, i even thought of a riddlehat scenario where jervis has a nightmare or something about edward taking alices place and is the one being controlled, and it GREATLY upsets Jervis, because mind controlling Edward would not only be the ultimate betrayal (with how much he knows edward values the brain, and how much jervis cares to keep his friendship), it would strip him of everything Jervis likes about Edward in the first place: His Mind.)
(Psst, you are already writing analysis posts of him btw as an analysis enthusiast.)
This is very valid criticism of the comic with evidence to back it, so I applaud this. It also feels quite out of character for Jervis to do so since it was clear in BTAS that he moved on from Alice and didn't attempt bothering her again (as far as we can tell as an audience). Because of the continuity differences, some people don't consider the comics canon to the DCAU. I like to think of it as a "what if" scenario, a fun divergence and exploration of plot. I liked the comic, but I absolutely agree that it does not feel authentic nor does it honour Jervis' mental fight to withhold using his technology on people he loves.
I believe the reason why he's referred to as an incel in fandom is because of the comment he made to Janet Van Dorn in "Trial". It signifies a greater entitlement and destructive possessiveness than was demonstrated of him before. The "if I can't have her, no one can" mentality kind. But it's up to interpretation whether it was a spur of the moment or a Freudian slip.
I also prefer this interpretation of his character above what was depicted in the comic since you are right, the nuance is far more compelling and narratively rich. It also highlights the possibility of Jervis reforming, that he isn't a lost cause if he would seek treatment and get the help he needs. Despite everything he did, the unforgivable actions and the devastation he's caused to innocents and someone who trusted him deeply, it's still possible for him to be happy.
Hatterzura fanbaby is Caroll Anne, who exists in jervis' domestic daydream, I think he would be an amazing dad who spoils her like a little princess :)
Oh yeah the synopsis is that he started dreaming an encounter with a lovely woman. Weird thing is that the dreams continued every single night until he gets horribly confused in which was real or not. He fell in love and even dated the woman, building a life together in his dreams until something breaks it apart
Jervis would be the type of guy who sees a woman with full makeup and simps in the comments of her Instagram about how he "wishes more women could be natural like her😩😍💖💍"
