Unfortunately, the audio glitched in my recording of Hayden and Angel together. But I still think it's beautiful in a haunting, nostalgic way. 🤍
first date idea >_<
Rosaries and Ribcages, a poem
There's a cross above your doorway
bearing witness to everything I am
I keep my hands folded, soft and perfect
The way daddy always taught me
They say god loves a quiet girl
Small enough to fade away
So I count my ribs like rosary beads every night
Sunday mornings taste like dust and devotion
yesterday’s black coffee, cold and untouched
Pressing dresses against my stomach
Starving myself clean though my sins never wash out
Something holy nests in the hollows of my bones
The mirror hums a warning
So I cover it with lace
If I empty out completely maybe God will let me go
I tried so hard to be smaller
To be holy, to be clean
To humble my soul, I offer my body up
So I kneel in your room
Porcelain knees pressed in
Your hands around my neck
I bruise under your strong grasp, purple and blue flowers bloom beneath my skin
Your finger prints linger like ink dark petals beneath my sunday dress
When i press on the thorns I smile because the pain reminds me of your love
Prune away my wild stems and shape me the way god shaped Eve
Anything you might do to me is better than something i might do to myself
Laying upon your alter you call it devotion
Carve away any parts of me you don't adore
