Personality:
Overall he appears quiet, but in a dark and dangerous way. He can be sarcastic and has a very dry sense of humour, but can be something of a pessimist. He is terrified of accidentally changing someone who isn't dying, has a way out or doesn't want to be changed. He has many secrets and doesn't open up to many people, even those who know he's a vampire. He is very intelligent; he maxes out every IQ test he takes, but that tends to be because of a vampire's attention to detail through their enhanced eyesight, their quick reflexes and time. He was already very intelligent before being changed; becoming a vampire and pursuing uni degrees as only enhanced this. He is quite anti-social and only really talks to family, though when forced to through uni etc. he can be very charming and makes acquaintances very easily. Obviously his family makes him part of a group, but he prefers to be alone as the mind-reading can make things overwhelming and awkward. He can be very spontaneous with certain things, but having lived so long he's come to realize that planning can be advantageous as it takes up time, which is why he spends nearly half a year going to the library before he chooses a uni course. He is also very careful, mistakes can be very costly to him, especially when hunting, and so very rarely takes part in reckless behaviour. He hates following but prefers not to be responsible for people, although sometimes he naturally does feel responsible, so maybe he's just a leader in denial.
Habits:
When in his own home he has a habit of answering people's thoughts because he relaxes.
When he is shocked or surprised by an event or by what someone has told him he freezes rather than reacting with a jump or a facial expression.
When agitated he taps out piano melodies with his fingers on a table or on his leg, depending on the situation.

He can read minds. Other than that just your average vampire; super strong, fast, bit of glamour, eats people, etc.
Mind reading and other psychic abilities normally come with a spirit/air affinity, so Kent is unusual in the sense that he has a fire affinity along with this ability.

Back Story:
Grew up in the town of Felixstowe with his widowed mother. His father died when he was a baby, his mother used to tell him he died in a heroic battle but later found out that he got hit on the head with a bottle in a bar fight, fell over and later choked on his own vomit because he was so drunk. However, the stories of his father made him want to be a soldier and as he was growing up he spent a large amount of time at the local blacksmiths, watching how he made swords and armour for the rich folk and occasionally helping or making crude designs from scraps. At the age of around 15 a young girl of about six began spending time there too, only she liked making little figures and pendants from the scrap metal. When she would ask him for help he would feel bad if he said no, so often they would sit together and make her little trinkets. At the age of 21 he fought against the Dutch as they attempted to invade Britain. This is where he died. However another soldier whom he had made friends with was actually a vampire, and could not bare to see this young man die in this battle, especially as they were so close to victory. So the vampire carried him down to an isolated dungeon and bit him, keeping him among the shrieking prisoners and madmen to hide his screams as the change took place.
Once changed the vampire's fled the town so as to escape questions, he has never been back since. As they have traveled around Britain, disguised as father and son using different surnames once information became traceable, they first picked up menial jobs. The older vampire still prefers to do smaller jobs, but as Kent discovered how quickly a vampire learns skills and lessons he slowly began doing more skilled work, with far greater pay. Once education became more standardized he began to take classes, attend universities and sometimes work some in certain fields. When it comes to killing he had the moral crisis that most vamps do, but as no alternative has ever been effective it became a ritual which he tries not to think about. As years went on they turned a handful of new vampires from those who were dying, and one recruit turned up on their doorstep, frozen as a 12 year-old she claims to have no memory of her turning or who changed her, although she does remember her life beforehand.
Currently he is unemployed, as his more than sufficient funds allow him to be. He spends most of his time in the library and is reading so as to decide upon which course he wishes to take at a university next year.
Miscellaneous Notes:
Has a fire affinity, hence the eyes. This means he is quick to temper, destroys things on order to build the new, rather than building upon what he already has. (Unusual that he would pursue education, but at the same time always chooses courses very different from each other, so as to start afresh).
