Dog Eared Books. He’d passed by several times but he’d never stopped to explore the small secondhand shop, until now. A quick Google search and store webpage (composed of Comic Sans font and cheesy cartoon graphics, no less) told him that the store did indeed buy books, for cash or store credit. Not particularly needing the store credit but certainly not being opposed to making a bit of cash out of the chore of spring cleaning in his apartment, he’d lugged a large box of paperbacks and hardcovers to Dog Eared Books. Once inside the store, he set the box down at his feet and looked around for anyone that might look like they belonged there.
“Excuse me, are you the owner?”
“Hm?” Lola looked up from the bookshelf, balancing four hardbacks in her arms and attempting to reach for a fifth before she suddenly had company. “Oh, no, that’s not me. Just a regular customer.” She was about to mention that she thought the owner might be in the back and would be out soon, but first she spotted the box of books sitting at the man’s feet, and abandoned the book she’d been trying to reach on the shelf to take a look at the soon to be new stock. Lola wasn’t a particularly avid reader, but it wasn’t as if she used the books for reading - just art projects, and for doodling on a slightly more interesting canvas than blank paper. “You’re getting rid of all these books? How about a deal -- whatever price they say they’ll buy all these for, I’ll add $10 onto it and take them off your hands. Sound good?”
