I saw these tags (below) and I need to rant!

hhighheelss: #since the bodice layers look like a ribcage it looks like you can see into her body/viscera when soaked in blood

A detail I unfortunately could not get a picture of, but folks at the UK showing did is the back of her dress - like many of her dresses in the film has visible grommets all the way down TO IMITATE HER SPINE!

But in the stained version, this is the detail I'm OBSESSED WITH concerning the blood: they clearly died the gown underneath with blood before adding on the top silk organza layer:

So it looks like it was actually stained from her blood pouring out through her body, versus being just added on top of the gown. If they'd dyed the whole gown, the organza would be stained red all the way through, but you can see, especially in the pleats and drapes, that it retains that pure whiteness. So it continues to work as a gauzy top layer obscuring the blood. You are seeing THROUGH something.

She's not technically done - many little things left to do, but she's finished enough to submit to the DragonCon costume contest.

I have never worked so hard to replicate someone else's design. I usually do original takes on characters. But Kate Hawley's designs for GDTs 'Frankenstein' were SO BEAUTIFUL. The way the blood stains 'seep' from the inside out... I just wish I could have afforded real silk organza to truly faithfully reproduce that nearly transparent top layer... but I've done my best with crystal organza. I cannot wait to wear this in a few weeks!

"But it makes me uncomfortable!" The world is an uncomfortable place and complete strangers are not required to fix that for you. Learning to endure harmless discomfort is a life skill for existing in public.

"But I don't like it!" There's plenty of things in the world and not all of them are fun or enjoyable or For You. This applies to everyone and we all have to deal with that in a mature fashion.

"But I want to do the thing!" You can't always do what you want. Most people learn this in preschool. Wanting something does not entitle you to be inconsiderate to the people around you.

genuinely I'm so sick of people wanting all fiction to be ethical. can we all just get a little gross with it. the point of fiction is that it's not real. we can be unethical in fiction; same goes with being perverted with fiction, being unrealistic with fiction, and being grotesque with fiction. not all fiction has to be ethical, not every character has to be ethical, and that's okay. can we stop with the puritanism. be gross. be unrealistic. be whatever. if I don't like it it's not my business as long as we're all clear that its fictional.
