DAVID GOO

Whether playing solo, with the David Goo Variety Band or fronting The 150 Friends Club, David Goo has been a pillar of the live music scene in London for years. His songs are funny, funky, quirky and moving. At LonDADA, he will be playing with himself.

PIG WITH THE FACE OF A BOY

Donald Newholm plays the guitar, mandolin and charango, and once wrote a song called “Please Don’t Tread On My Cheeseburger”.

Dan Woods plays the accordion, piano and violin, and once wrote a song called “I Want To Eat Your Placenta”.

They met in Kennington, and this is their band. Together they play acoustic instruments and write songs with peculiar lyrics.

Their first music video, A Complete History of the Soviet Union through the eyes of a humble worker, arranged to the melody of Tetris, has achieved over 2,000,000 views on YouTube.

They have just released their second album, The Girl With The Arms Made From Marrows.

SIR GIDEON VEIN & ELENA VAN GOTHA

performing “Vaudeville Creepers”

Sir Gideon Vein is England’s greatest living actor, renowned for his Shakesperean roles as Hamlet, Mephistopholes, and Bottom. In his self-proclaimed 169 years, Sir Gideon Vein has perfected an on-stage persona that goes way beyond an act.

Intellectually and emotionally, Sir Gideon and the audience can unanimously find themselves tangled in knots, as accents, morals and perspectives are twisted in all manner of directions.

His performances are hilarious, cathartic, disturbing and intensely addictive.

Along with Herzojin Elena Van Gotha, he will be exploring the possiblities of cabaret and vaudeville without a net.

VINZENZ STERGIN

performing an original live score to Hans Richter’s “Ghosts Before Breakfast”

Vinzenz Stergin is an Austrian composer, producer and musician based in London. In addition to his solo work, he writes and performs music with the bands NEUZUGANG and LAXMI.

He has composed a new score for Hans Richter’s seminal 1927 short film “Ghosts Before Breakfast”, and he will perform it live to accompany a 35mm projection of the film.

HunkyPunk

performing an excerpt from “KUNST?”

HunkyPunk is a mask-comedy troupe producing visually striking pieces of original theatre. They will be performing an excerpt from their upcoming show KUNST?, in which an elderly couple’s ritual squabble over an evening’s television is expanded and distorted into a series of surreal comedic episodes.

KUNST? will premiere on August the 17th-21st, at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre, Kentish Town, as part of the Camden Fringe.

Pénte Ensemble

performing Harrison Birtwistle’s “Five Distances”

The Pénte Ensemble is a wind quintet based in London, formed by scholarship-receiving postgraduate students at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Pénte enjoys performing and promoting more obscure works for wind quintet, in conjunction with traditional, more familiar pieces.

DOROTHY FALE

Dorothy is a queer feminist, a gender fluid fictional creature, a silent loud mouth comedian. Her roots are equally in contemporary performance and stand-up comedy. The stage acts and one woman shows are a mixture of traditional clown gimmicks, stand-up, object comedy, improvisation and verbatim theatre. Combining big, often political, themes with audience interaction and recorded real life testimonies the clown searches for the truth behind modern existence.

Above all Dorothy is a clown on the verge of an existential crisis.

DESPERATE MEN

performing “Slapstick & Slaughter”

One of the UK’s most versatile and inventive outdoor arts companies, Desperate Men’s mischievous, warm hearted work invites audiences to ask serious questions about the world.

Two men recklessly attempt to confront the absurdity of war in just 35 minutes, using their bodies, their voices and the surrealist toolbox of DADAism. Playful, physical and blackly comedic, SLAPSTICK & SLAUGHTER examines how the barbaric chaos of World War One manifested itself in the nihilistic, nonsensical art that grew from it. This street theatre show splatters big ideas on a small canvas, exploring art’s reaction to the war’s wholesale destruction of lives, the old order and old hypocrisies and finding echoes in equally absurd modern conflicts.
