NYC Day Trip
Oh yeah. Our NYC day trip. Fun day.
Today we woke up bright and early to catch a Greyhound. Our bus to NYC left DC at 7 am so we visited Union Station that morning when no one else was there! The bus wasnāt bad at all. We sat at the front and it was a very smooth ride. We arrived a bit before 11 and headed straight to Times Square! Washington DC Day 2
We walked half as much today but still covered tons of city! Plus bacon clothesline...
Today, we decided to get another early start. We were exhausted and sore, but we had things to do! We took the metro to Arlington National Cemetery and arrived a bit before 9 am. When we got there, the metro was fairly empty and the people around the cemetery were all locals out for their morning jog. The Cemetery wasnāt crowded at all. Day 14: Another Day in Helsinki

I forgot to post the last few days. On this day, we took a ferry ride to Suomenlinna Fortress. It was about a twenty minute ride and we spent the bulk of the day roaming the island. Suomenlinna is a sea fortress right off of Helsinki. It encompasses six islands. It was built in 1748 as protection against Russian expansionism. The island makes for a nice day trip now. Day 13: An Estonian Adventure
Another day, another country, another edition of Harry Potter šŖšŖ
Did you know that only an hour and a half away from Helsinki is this beautiful place?Ā Tallinn, Estonia has a medieval, walled town center. We arrived around 930 in the morning and left at 730 in the evening. Today we woke up bright and early from our amazing hotel to have breakfast and continue our tour. We headed to Peterhof, where Anastasia was born.Ā We only got to visit the lower cascade garden as we didnāt have all day here. It was amazing!! Day 10: A Day in St. Petersburg
Our first day in St Petersburg!!! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Today wasnāt quite what we expected. Our tour was meant to pick us up at 930. Well we couldnāt even disembark until 930 much less complete passport control! We finally reached our group at 11 am. Day 9: A Day in Helsinki
Today we docked for the day in Helsinki, Finland. Getting of the boat was a hassle because no on likes to stand in a proper line so there was a lot of cutting. When we finally got off, we had a tour arranged so we boarded a private bus right away.Ā We saw most of the downtown area! Day 8: Stockholm and a Ferry
Bye bye Stockholm!!
Today we only had a few hours in Stockholm before boarding our ferry to Helsinki and Russia. We spent the morning wandering around Gamla Stan, the historic district.Ā First, we went into Riddarholm Church.Ā The church is used for burials of the monarchs.Ā After seeing the church, we walked towards the Stockholm Palace, stopping and souvenir shipping along the way.Ā We boarded the boat after that.ā¦

Day 7: We're in Stockholm!
A bit about our day in Stockholm
Country number 2! We arrived in Sweden around 1 pm on Monday. We took the fast train from the airport into the city center and found our hotel right away! We got checked in and then headed for a walk around the coast to the Vasa Museum.Ā The Vasa is a 17th century warship that sank on her maiden voyage. She was found in the 1950s and brought back to land. The ship was massive!! We got to exploreā¦

Day 6: A Brighton Adventure
Our yesterday in Brighton!!
Today we took one last British day trip. We went to the coast! Brighton is about an hour out from London so itās the perfect distance for a day trip.Ā We started the day with a visit to the Royal Pavilion. Itās decorated like India and China though the King who had it built had never been to either. It was beautiful!! We had lemon meringue tarts and coffee on one of the balconies of the palace.Ā ā¦

Day 5: A Cambridge Adventure
Today, we took another trip out of London. This time, we went to Cambridge! (Not Massachusetts) We spent most of the time wandering the naturey parts of the city. We took a collegebacks punting tour on the River Cam and that was so fun. Our guide told us about all of the colleges and bridges. Day 4: St. Paul's, the Tower, and more Harry Potter
A little late on day 4. We have just finished day 5 but you'll have to wait. It's hard to believe we are only one day away from finishing the London leg!
Today we spent most of our time outside. We started bright and early at St. Paulās Cathedral. Last time I was there we were only able to see the floor as it was a Sunday. This time, we were able to visit the Whispering Gallery, high above the floor. It was quite a lot of small steps to get there, but it was worth it! Day 3: More Museums and Harry Potter
We didnāt do many exciting things yesterday. We visited the V&A Museum. We only spent a couple of hours there and barely touched the place. It was massive!! We also visited the History Museum. I thought the history museum would take longer than the V&A but it didnāt. We had tons of time left. We ended up heading to Leicester Square to pick up our show tickets. Today we spent our day in Bath, an hour and a half away from London. It was raining all day but it wasnāt a miserable rain. There was no wind and it wasnāt huge drops. Mom enjoyed her first train ride, even though our views werenāt spectacular. Day 1: We're in London!
Day 1: Weāre in London!
We made it!! Our trip began with a three hour layover. That turned an already three hour layover in Dallas into a six hour layover. Luckily, we were able to relax in the American Express lounge for the day!Ā When we arrived to the airport, things went smoothly. Our journey to the hotel went well also.
