Well, hi to any new followers; hello again old friends!!

It has been a long, LONG time since this blog was updated and I apologize for that. Life kind of took off after I started my part-time job in 2016. Today has been the first time since 2019 that I have logged back in to check up on things.

I do not know if I'll have the time to continue updating long-branch any more. I work full-time now and I'm planning on going back to school in the spring/summer and on top of that I'm also a mom to two kids. So yeah, time is a very precious commodity around these parts.

Maybe once I find an easier schedule after I start school, this blog will be resurrected. But for now, it's time to ride off into the sunset☀️

Actor Howard McNear was born January 27, 1905. To classic television fans, he is instantly recognizable as Floyd the Barber from The Andy Griffith Show. Radio fans know him best as Doc Addams, Dodge City’s resident sawbones on Gunsmoke.

Elsewhere on radio, McNear was heard in supporting roles on The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe, The Line-Up, The Adventures of Philip Marlowe, Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, and many more. He specialized in eccentric, oddball characters, but he was also more than capable of subtle dramatic performances - the kind he regularly essayed on Gunsmoke.

MeTV will be showing seasons 7-11 of Gunsmoke starting October 26th

On this day in 1955, the first episode of Gunsmoke aired on CBS. Introduced by James Arness’ good friend John Wayne; who had been considered the role of Marshal Dillon but turned it down, the show lasted 20 seasons and is considered to be an all time classic of the western era of television. Happy 60th Anniversary, Gunsmoke!!
