An old photograph of my mother and her aunt who raised her. 50 years ago.

As my mom likes to say that after she was born, China changed. Well, it’s somewhat true since a few months after she was born, the Communist party gained control over China. However, her parents were on the Nationalist side so they had to leave her behind. Long story short, my mom didn’t meet her parents until she was 14 years old so that is why her caretaker was her mother’s sister. My mom has had an amazing journey that’s worth hearing but not from me. I keep telling her she needs to write a book, doesn’t need to be published, but I’d like to be able to remember every detail of her story to tell to my kids one day. =]

Anyhow, I discovered this photograph during Lunar New Year Eve at my mom’s cousin’s house. I find this photograph quite amazing because it was originally printed in Sepia but as you can see now, my mom’s aunt is now encompassed by B&W. My mom is still in Sepia. Call it a mere coincidence but maybe there’s a Film Fairy out there who changes all your old photographs into B&W ones after you pass away. I guess that means you took all color with you. Ok, that sounds really depressing but it’s kinda cool, no?

P.S. I think my oldest brother has a strikingly huge resemblence to my mom photographed in this picture. :D

I just got this last weekend, and it truly uncluttered my desk. Before I had a mess up cables which looked like it could start a fire. I purchased the Signum cable manager from Ikea for $15 and it keeps everything off the floor.
