I didn't think I'd be this person but I own like 40 books I haven't read yet.

To be fair I like my house to feel like a library/I do read pretty consistently/I got most of them secondhand cheap or free.

But still, I need to make this a Hot Girl Reading Summer.

Vulnerable Kanthony after an accident is top notch! I’m assuming Idris retreated after seeing Kate’s reaction to Anthony’s accident. He quickly realises he never stood a chance hehe loved that they shared their deepest fears and reassured one another in that hot steamy spicy scene! Smutty resolution at its best!

Thank you! Yeah I imagine Idris helped call the ambulance, maybe going as far as following them to the hospital and making sure they had a doctor who could communicate with them - and then he was like "this is heavy and personal so I'm going to bounce." I think Kate being so worried and upset would be a pretty clear signal that Kanthony are A Serious Thing. Which is just as well because if Anthony had woken up to see Idris with his arms around Kate, he probably would have had a stroke lmao.

Sometimes you have to have uncomfortable, difficult conversations to get to a better place with someone. I think Kate and Anthony needed to argue, clear the air, understand where the other person was coming from and what's holding them back. Now they know how serious they both are and it only makes them stronger and more secure from here.

I debated about them having sex because, you know, Anthony got hit by a car lol. (Lightly.) But I love sex in fics that isn't just about pleasure; it can be life-affirming and a way to feel close to someone. And Anthony knows that Kate needs that.

Ooh, I'd forgotten about A Moment Apart! Since Wanderers is your last multi chapter, does that mean it definitely won't happen in the future?

Me too, it just kind of pops every once in a while lol. Wanderers is my last long multi-chap...I still may do fics that are 2-5 chapters, like The Only Exception, Like I See You, Hush. Something that doesn't take months and feels like less of a commitment.

All that to say, A Moment Apart and a few other things are still on my list and I'm hopeful that I can rework them into just longer one-shots or a handful of chapters. Honestly them being shorter might make me more likely to finally get around to them lol.

It seems natural that, with the years, the number of readers got smaller and the works are fewer.

I, as an avid reader, entered this fandom not too long ago, and I found amazing stories and people who still interact and put their love in it.

We have a little community of 2000 members on Twitter who still keep updates and share fics daily.

I cherish every one of them, and I'm thank thankful for all the work artists and writers have been gifting us all these years. 🫂❤️🫂

Totally agree. And I hope I'm not bringing anyone down - I can only speak for myself and my own experiences with the fandom. There's still a lot of love for Kanthony out there.

Yeah...kinda sad situation with Kanthony writers and readers, i guess(i think most readers are still hanging in there🙃)...still remember the high of having all these fics regularly updated...the highest was yours(if i lose myself tonight and say my name are top of the top for me)i was wondering...are you in touch with any of them?well if you are tell them we are still waiting..mainly cacio..all the others do still post, albeit rarely...

There definitely are still readers around, but I will say, we do not hear from them nearly as much. I don't talk about this a lot because I don't want it to sound like I'm complaining or ungrateful at all - I hear a lot from readers on Tumblr and I really love those conversations. I know there are devoted readers trying to keep the fandom alive. But engagement IS way down. I get...probably a third of the hits/kudos/comments that I did a year ago. My average number of comments on a chapter now used to be what I got on a fic that I kind of considered as bombing lol, or just being less popular.

It was an adjustment but I still wanted to write, I still wanted to be part of the fandom, so I adapted. But I think it's important to say, only because there's a bit of a question of where all the authors went...but I think it happened on both sides, writers AND readers losing interest, and that's a self-fulfilling loop. A lot of people on both sides probably just lost the fever over time, which is totally normal. But writers do stop writing if there's less engagement, and readers do stop reading if there are fewer fics. I definitely don't mean to guilt anyone as I'm not the most prolific reader myself...but if you're reading a fic that you really love, just let the author know once in a while! It'll have more impact now than ever.

I am in touch with some of the writers, not all. Mostly they just seem busy with other things...such is life! But I'm sure they appreciate knowing that people are still thinking of them.

Ah i gotchu I also skip my train of thought sometimes 😂 I haven only read kanthony since 2024 (have a … ridiculously long tbr despite what ive read and reread) but so you probably know best, but I wonder if people are writing less Kanthony or the tag is just clogged w other main ships who tag kanthony for a 5 second appearance of the two in their story 💀 i appreciate the hell out of ao3… i desperately need them to great a main ships filter 😂

Yeah I suppose everyone sees it differently...from my perspective, a big drop in writers and a big drop in readers and engagement. But there are still thousands of really incredible Kanthony fics out there, there are plenty I've still never read!

The tag has definitely gotten a bit cluttered...you may already know this, but for anyone who doesn't...you can type "otp: true" in the "search within results" box while filtering in the Kanthony tag, and it will show fics where Kanthony is the only ship tagged. It's not the same as a main ships filter because it probably will exclude some legit Kanthony fics with side ships tagged, but helps narrow it down a bit when you just want 100% Kanthony.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

What do you mean “I guess there are just not too many of us authors kicking around these days” in relation to the photo dump?

I can see how that was unclear haha. Basically my brain went oh it's nice that someone thinks of my fics when they see photos -> I guess there are fewer authors writing now so maybe I'd be more top of mind just because I'm currently updating a WIP and there aren't a ton of WIPs at the moment -> as opposed to a few years ago when we had tons of writers posting all the time. Hope that makes sense, sometimes I just say stuff and I forget there was a whole mental journey to get there lol.

Aww, thank you. I guess there are just not too many of us authors kicking around these days. But I absolutely love hearing about the photos/songs/prompts/whatever that remind you of certain fics, it gives me a glimpse into how people visualize my stories, I guess? The vibe you get from them. It's fun.

I know you posted that diamond art a while ago but did you freehand the bookmarks?

I used a kit (original post) that's basically like paint by numbers, you just match the gems up to the number on the canvas.

People may not be able to see this outside the U.S., but here are links to the bookmarks I did and the book-themed canvas one I'm doing now, if anyone is curious!

But they do give you a lot of gems and I have a bunch left over...so I plan on getting some blank adhesive sheets that are designed for freehanding diamond art, and see what I come up with. My artistic talent is somewhat limited but I'm sure I can figure out some basic shapes (or something abstract lol).

Thank you! Anthony getting hurt was a very good reader suggestion to help him see how Kate really feels about him. I'm glad I was able to work it in. They're both so devoted to each other and committed to being together and they just needed to say their insecurities out loud so they could realize that they're on exactly the same page.

amazing chapter...as always...and now, when getting jealous they will not act so stupid again, because they talked about their insecurities and because our girl Kate is wayyyyy more emotionally developed, she should use praise during sex, after Anthony rejects someone's flirting-proposition, without even knowing that Kate is watching..that would definitely work on Anthony...

Thanks! Yes, they still have to work on being secure in their relationship but that was a huge step forward. Lmao that definitely tracks because Anthony has a praise kink and no one can tell me otherwise.

I honestly can't wait to see Sophie's reaction to Kate and Anthony being in a relationship lol. I feel like she wouldn't really make a big deal out of it, but still.

She will make an appearance in the next chapter! I've been teasing her for so long lol. But yeah, Sophie's too smart not to know (or at least suspect) what it means when Kate and Anthony are suddenly way harder to reach. They're either fighting or sleeping together and if they were fighting, Kate would be throwing herself into her work. But she's had a hunch for quite some time that they were in love so she's very happy for her friends.

Aw, thank you! I did publish the first few chapters all at once because they were drabbles I had written on Twitter and I wanted to preserve them somewhere. I wasn't expecting it to grow into its own thing, but it's been such a great place for me to test out ideas and new genres.
