Sorry I usually don’t reblog things of this nature on this blog, but this above comment irritated me and I just felt I needed to voice my opinion.
Now I don’t know her full story and the details, so I apologize if I am mistaken about a fact.
First of all, I understand that, yes, she is killing endangered animals and is a questionable area in my eyes, but if you truly want to do good for the ecosystem and the world, how about you put up a petition or text posts trying to bring awareness to the hundreds to thousands of animals being slaughtered by poachers, not law abiding hunters participating in a sport.
And yes, to some, hunting is not a sport and is morally questioned by some, but saying that her actions are “disgusting superficially” seems very harsh, seeing that this sports brings millions of dollars in revenue, creates jobs in countless amounts of countries, and not only that, but maintains a balanced ecosystem. Unknown to many, hunters are not always after the “prized” animal with the biggest antlers or weighs the most. Hunting helps put down the old, sick, and those that would suffer in the wild with a quicker way out. And in an unbalanced population, hunting also acts as a population control, maintaining an optimum population (not applicable obviously due to the animals in this case being endangered)
Because of this sport, it helps stimulate Africa’s tourist industry, because let me tell you, a safari hunt in Africa is not cheap! And many safari outfitters in Africa help the surrounding villages by providing food of the animals killed to those who may not eat for days at a time. And part of the cost of hunting in legitimate places is given to the government which in turns places incentives for the farm owners to raise and breed more endangered animals.
And not to point out an obvious thing, this has been happening for a very long time, and I don’t see why all of a sudden everyone is up in arms about one incident. I rather see some action being taken about those poaching, who kill for the trophy, not to help the ecosystem or economy.
