thegalacticvoid Daphnis may only be about 8 kilometers wide, but this tiny Saturnian moon is a true cosmic sculptor. 🪐

Orbiting within the Keeler Gap of Saturn’s A ring, its gravity pulls on the icy particles at the edges, carving ripples and waves that rise up to 1.5 kilometers high. These shifting patterns make Daphnis look like an artist sketching across the rings.

Captured in stunning detail by Cassini before its 2017 plunge, we now have both real images and renders that show the moon’s crisp edges and the sculpted trails it leaves behind.
