Ellie's gift for him was left on his desk. Within was a statuette of a bat in flight, with long, detailed and expertly painted wings, and a handsome face, reminiscent of a vampire bat. With it, a note reads, 'My dear Lord Hastings, Working for you has been and is still a privilege that I covet. I look forward to continue working with you in the company and receiving your guidance. Please receive this gift as a token of my eternal loyalty and admiration. Forever Yours, Ellie'.

    Hastings slowly made his way into his office. As he lookedto his desk, he quirked a brow observing the surface. He then, sat down in hisleather chair that faced the article. Truthfully, it was a beautiful piece.  One of his hands picked it up from the desk,then holding it in both hands as he carefully looked over it. It took him asecond to note the note. He placed it back on the desk as he took the note byhis thumb, opening it with another digit. “How nice of her to get me a gift,”he mumbles before placing the note back with the item. He would place itsomewhere else later.

         Hastings had just been standing by observing, not exactly putting himself forward to dance. Then again it never bothered him. Through the ages it was something he did not mind doing. When he was pulled, he quirked a brow. “Oh? Now this is unexpected..”

She didn’t sit down, but only strode over to a nearby shelf of books, idly letting her fingers run over their spines. Hastings had managed to gather quite a gathering. Were they all from this century, or did they extend long before these decades?

“I thought I already told you - their attacks. I’m hardly out of any danger with them running on the streets. It’s growing beyond Whitechapel these days - for some reason, they’re becoming much bolder in their attacks.”

The vampire continued to watch her carefully, observing what books she went to. Mentally, he was always taking notes of sorts. Hastings took a deep breath before he picked up his drink and took another sip of the tea.

" And I promise I will handle it, " he nodded, certainly it should be an easy situation to handle. " Surely it will be simple to handle. " He would inform Alastair of it as well, for the safety of his ...ally. “ Do not worry. ”

"Excuse me?"  he huffed in a very quick retort. He quirked a brow when the other spoke, a laugh left the vampire's lips. In the smallest terms, he was amused. " I do not feign confidence, I have confidence," Hastings boasted. He had little care if the other had respect for him or not. Lord Hastings certainly had his doubts about the situation at hand. There were many other things he would rather be doing.

Hastings was continuously not amused by their meeting. He had other plans and they did not include this entanglement. The vampire's hues watched him cautiously, his scent was unnerving and disgusting to him. A step or two was taken in the opposite direction, as Hastings had more pressing matters. That little conflict within his home made far too much sense to him now, even with the rest that had been building.

Now that .... was something the vampire did not want to see. One of the things he feared, but he would not show it in his hues. Why would he? Let the other see him sweat? Never.  He knew what he had and the damage it could do. Could the vampire talk his way out of this? It was..questionable even in his thoughts. "Is the incendiary ...necessary?" He paused, taking  deep breath. "Perhaps we could ... ......... talk." Hastings used talk loosely as he took two steps to the side.

"As if I am the only monster present," he huffs, accenting each syllable when he speaks.

    In all honesty, the vampire wanted to stay in for the evening. However, it would look bad if he did not show up for his own gala. His nose was in the air as his hands draped the jacket onto Ellie. “Surely the event will be...entertaining to say the least. Wouldn’t you say?”
