Rennala has a unique variant of Raya Lucaria symbol that is not quite like the typical sigil that only depicts the star + glintstone that landed from the space!

Hers has sky (Radahn), river (Ranni) and underground flames (Rykard)!

AHHH I’ve never given this crest much thought before but you’re soooo right… it’s so interesting how it’s got such a similar design to raya lucaria’s crest, except those colors give it like a whole new context, specifically a carian context?? LOVE how you can read it as representing rennala’s kids like you said, and you can also read it as representing carian interests as a whole with their classic “night and flame” motif (the “night” aspect often being associated with water and sky… see rennala’s phase 2 arena with its moon over endless water, caria manor’s moon-gazing pool, and ranni’s association with ice), a motif which rennala’s kids themselves reflect!! (rykard = fire, ranni = stars/ice, radahn = fire AND stars)

this “carian” interpretation of the academy’s sigil is also making me think of the crest as like a commentary on caria’s influence on the academy?? we know rennala didn’t found the academy, but “charmed” the sorcerers with her lunar magic and became its master (and not every glintstone sorcerer agreed with the carians’ leadership). so I wonder if this crest is also representing the academy after it’s been “carian-ified”? it’s such a neat little character design detail!!

I wonder when Rennala learned she could rebirth people. I choose to think her decline into what we see in game was gradual (because it's more tragic and interesting) and so like...was it only after she was imprisoned in the academy? Or did Ranni, still alive at that point, once come home to find her mother's guards missing and two strange children by her side?

Did she realize what had happened when she first did it? Or was it not an issue since they were happy to exist in these new forms?

Followers of the golden order swear by Marika and the Erdtree, obviously, but fundamentalists tend to be uppity when you use Her name in vain. Marika herself doesn't care, as long as you're not using another god's name you can say some pretty blasphemous shit ("Marika's tits!" for an in-game example) and you still get a pass.

Speaking of Marika's tits, Godfrey's balls. Cock and balls if you're really mad. no further notes....Radagon's tits too actually. If you say that and he hears it he'll kill you instantly though.

"Flames" is used as a mild swear used by pretty much everyone, bc there's like 6 different flames and most of them are enemies of someone. Are they talking about Giantsflame? Frenzied flame? Ghostflame? Godkilling black flame? Blood flame? All of the above? Who cares. It's the drat/darn/shoot of the world.

Liurnians of all types swear by the stars, though Carians also incorporate the moon and the Raya Lucaria sorcerers sometimes invoke their weird sky shit of choice. Also, when Radahn stopped the stars, he kinda became the guy everyone blamed when shit went wrong, like in a "Thanks, Obama!" way.

Also, it’s not a swear, but people will say things that are unfair, confusing, or illogical are “Shabriri’s will”, which in itself isn’t a bad thing to say, but it’s an insult to say someone is acting under his influence

An exceptionally rude thing to say to someone in Leyndell is "May your children grow horns", basically wishing an omen into their family.

This isn't necessarily a swear, but many of their euphemisms for death involve water. People say stuff like like "He's joined the mariners" or "he went out to sea"

There are like 9 types of fire last I made the mistake of counting so I do think they also make references to "the 9 flames".
