This step: transferring the drawing to the panel. Prep for a painting is so tedious. Do study in graphite, scan, clean and chop up in Photoshop, print the pieces, reassemble, trace over graphite paper, and then: PAINT. It tries my patience. I just want to go, go, go! Artists, what's your process? (at DUMBO Industrial District)

So, for each finished piece I ever paint, there are around 30 paintings underneath for all the times I do-over, do-over, and do-over. I see artists who seem to start in one corner and in a decisive act, cover the surface in one perfectly executed swoop. I am not that artist. #wip here for @coreyhelfordgallery show comin up. Learning a folk art! Mushroom drawing on the "hillbilly canvas" or "artists conk". They can grow for years and develop age rings like trees do. The drawing is actually bruising the soft white flesh with a sharp tool. The finished work dries to be a hard, long-lasting tchotchke. Practice, Practice, Practice (this is a graphite study for *maybe* a painting.) When some of us were young, our communities were so afraid of the Darkness getting its hands on the youth. Witchcraft, magick, D&D...just waiting for your children! I kinda miss the Satanic Panic. Beats losing our youth to the web machines, hands down. (at Nueva York City)
