Ok this isn't a bug but I need to share - LOOK at these absolutely minuscule precious little poppies
White pygmy-poppy, Canbya candida, found in Southern California

dandelion leaves contain a really good amount of vitamins A, C, & K, as well as good iron and calcium. as long as you're in a clean area where you know pesticides haven't been used & is free of pollutants, ie away from roads, you can harvest however much you'd like!

🫑 this is a pepper appreciation post 🌶️
I'm on my last jar of fermented hungarian hot wax pepper relish and I AM FREAKING OUT MAN
Lilac flowers usually only have 4 lobes but occasionally you get some with 5. these are super lucky talismans and should be eaten promptly.
The Huntington: Vista
Unlike the organization of Lotusland, The Huntington’s Cactus and Succulent garden takes a different approach: eye candy. In many ways, it felt like a California version of The Dallas Arboretum.
I got married in the forest this weekend to a handsome butch prince 🌿
hello, i have a cactus, planted in a mix of perlite and soil. had it for over a year, it got taller and grew little offshoots and was doing great. watered it every month or so and showed no signs of being wobbly or having rot. went away for the weekend. came back. cactus seems to have shrunk. on closer inspection, deflated. i thought oh no! rot? i pushed the top away and the entire inside of the cactus is gone, there's no flesh in there at all it was just skin sitting in the soil. any ideas at all what caused it?
thank you!
Hi, friend! Usually a soft, deflated cactus (especially one that falls apart like this) indicates some kind of rot or fungal disease, usually from either overwatering or being in soil that doesn’t have good enough drainage.
I’m going to guess that it’s probably the latter. Cacti grown indoors especially need a very fast-draining mix that provides access to air pockets for their roots to dry out quickly. A mix with lots of pumice, bark, coarse sand, lava rock, or vermiculite is best.
The bottom half is definitely beyond saving, but can try letting the top half dry out for a week or so before setting it cut-side down on top of some perlite or coarse sand. Leave it alone in an area with good airflow and moderate sunlight and it might grow new roots.
Good luck!!
fuuuuuck thank god there’s flowers and leaves again it was getting so hard to find the beauty in the world
she’s always a stunner

Melon migration
First day back at the farm! There were 10 baskets of oatstraw I had to bundle or prepare for dehydrating and it was so relaxing to my neurodivergent little brain 💚
