this is an rp blog (its a sideblog so I’m so sorry for not following y’all,, its not because I’m more important it totally is<3) for empires!joey. we’re associated with @riobug as part of their empires rp group! we’re not the real ccs, just rping.

so, anyways, I’m Emperor Joey of the lost empire, the best empire in the entire smp, and I’m looking forward to rping with you guys~

He listened to the voice in his head, a god, helping him train. He had decided to wear one of his older training outfits, it was a sleeveless coat that went down past his knees, showing his chest and arms. The coat was a deep red with white and gold detailing and was held with a belt around his waist, made of white fabric and fastened with a gold buckle. His pants where long and a bright white, and they tucked into his high black boots with golden buttons, On his bare arm sat the symbol of the Cursed God, a head resembling an octopus's with bright green eyes, and six dark greenish blue tentacles curling on the sides.]

[Joey glided down towards the Mezalean Matral Palace, humming a soft tune. Finding Joel in a training room, he decided to surprise his brother, sneaking up quietly behind him, making sure to hover a few inches above the ground so Joel wouldn't hear footsteps.]

Joey, listen I swear i have a reason.

[He was in a panic, he knew how Joey felt about the Cursed God but, The Cursed God had helped him, many times. He had gotten his brother back because of the Cursed God. And right now, he was worried about what his brother would think of him.]

[Joey's mind was a mess. How was he even supposed to respond to that? Oh hey, that's the symbol of the god who murdered my friends? Instinctively, he took a step back, distancing himself from the mark that had caused him so much pain.]

[He didn't even register himself saying it, but by then the words were out of his mouth and it was too late.]

[The necklace hidden under his cape glowed softly, as if it was... encouraging his actions.]

[Joey wasn't sure where that outburst had come from, but none of it was a lie. He had died back then, actually died, when it was just the three of them left with the crown, and he had been so stupid, so careless-]

[Joel felt betrayed at those words, Joey, his own flesh and blood had the audacity to call the Cursed God, the god he was a champion of, a killer. the only killer that Joel knew of was Exor, right? The Cursed God reassured him from the hivemind that his brother didn't know the truth, and that they should talk this out. but for once, Joel didn't listen.]

If that was the case why aren't you still stuck in that damned box?

[He yelled at his brother. He never Yelled, they never fought. But for once, both of those things had happened.]

If it wasn't for him you'd still be stuck in that Pandora's Box! You wouldn't have been ruling the Lost Empire right now! You wouldn't have met Xornoth!

[Joey took a step back. Joel never yelled. But some form of irritation bubbled up within him, and he found himself responding in anger.]

I don’t care about the throne! I never did! I wasn’t even the one meant to rule, you were!

[Why did Joel even bring it up, and why was Joey arguing back? That was his brother! The one person who had never done anything bad towards Joey!]

And now you’re a follower of the god that was so evil, a whole organization was formed to stop it!

[Joel wasn't pleased, quite the opposite in fact, he was angry, not at Joey, but at himself, for never showing Joey the truth when they were younger, and now, there was nothing he could do to change his brothers mind.]

[But that, a thought passed his mind, Joey thought he was just a follower. if he knew the truth, maybe he could show his brother the truth.]

Follower? I'm much more than a Follower, and that organization, the only thing they ever did right was destroy that crown.

[The crown of Oblivion, it was the one thing made by the cursed god that he hated. It was made to help the wearer use their magic, to strengthen it. It wouldn't allow natural magic to pass through.]

What do you mean, you're much more than just a follower-

[Joey cuts himself off, looking at Joel with horror in his eyes as the implications sink in.]

No... Tell me you're lying, please. You- you can't be-

[He pauses, unable to finish his sentence. When he speaks again, his voice is shaky with suppressed emotions. He doesn't meet Joel's eyes.]

... I need some time to process this. I'll... see you later.

[Without waiting for a response, Joey left, colourful wings carrying him back to the Lost Empire.]

How did Xornoth know that this was my favourite flower? ... well, let's be real, they probably guessed. Still... I appreciate the sentiment.

[He leaves to get ready for a full day of productive work, eager to get started on the air temple.]

[The sun was just rising over the Lost Empire when they got back from the Rivendell ball.]

Well, that was like... the third worst gathering I've ever been to. Maybe second, but definitely doesn't come close to first.

[Joey lets out a nervous laugh, still slightly nervous around Xornoth.]

We should probably treat your injuries, and deal with... your horns. Might be best to do that in my room. I'd rather not cause mass panic by bringing you into the healer's den...

[Xornoth winces, clutching the side of their abdomen besides where they had been stabbed straight through the stomach.]

I really don't want to know what that first party was, but the morbid side of me does.

[They walked lopsided due the the loss of their horns, leaning heavily on the Lost King besides him who had his arm around them for... support.]

[Joey leads Xornoth around the temples, hiding behind the thick green leaves just incase anybody could see. They felt something tugging at the back of their mind, like a missing, stirring memory of a time just forgotten, but giddy and exciting. They walk in sync, Xornoth knowing the way with their own muscle memory.]

[The air was hot and humid, thick against his skin.]

[Joey suppresses a blush at Xornoth being so close to him. Now's not the time for blushing like a teenager with a crush! You need to make sure they don't bleed out! he tells himself as they arrive at his rooms.]

Well if you really must know, it ended with eight people dead, one of them being me. Of course, I didn't stay dead for long, but still...

[Joey shrugs, before stopping at the entrance to his bedroom.]

You can wait inside, I need to grab more bandages.

[Xornoth shrugged. This wasn't the most surprising thing they'd heard today. He sat down on top of some brightly coloured cushions, groaning as they start to bleed a little bit more.]

[They weren't used to this- blood, mortality, being hurt. Least of all were they used to someone caring for them.]

Joey? [Xornoth called out hoarsely, wincing slightly.] You might need to...hurry up, a bit. The corruption on your bedside table is starting to try and connect to me. If it gets in my stomach, it might...

[Xornoth didn't question why there was some corruption on Joey's cabinet. Instead, they turned their head to the window, where birds were starting to wake and call out to eachother atop the large trees.]

Shit- I forgot about that, sorry-

[Joey rushes in with an armful of bandages and some healing potions, nearly tripping in the process. Dumping the items next to Xornoth, he grabs the pot of corruption and yeets it through the fake painting. There is a muffled crash as the pot falls down the stairs. Joey winces.]

I need to go make sure the pot hasn't hit anything important. Drink one of these healing potions for now, and I'll bandage up your wounds once I get back.

[Xornoth stares at the drink in their hand as they hear a quiet "shit!" as the sound of more breaking pottery hits their ears. The bandages and healing remedies shift on the bed as they twitch, wincing as the noise of more stuff dropping sounds from downstairs.]

["Fuck!" They hear, accompanied by the sound of shattering glass. Xornoth almost wondered what was going on down there and why The King of the empire was acting so flustered and clumsy.]

[Xornoth sips the pink health potion through a yellow straw and glares at Joey as he walks into the room again.]

Not a word. [They warn him.]

I wasn't going to say anything. But... well...

[Joey's wings fluff up slightly.]

Can you... take off your shirt? I need to bandage you properly, and I can't do that with your shirt in the way.

[He's well aware of how red his face is getting as he looks away from Xornoth. It's such a silly thing to get embarrassed over, but only now does Joey realise the situation he's put himself in.]

[Xornoth snickers slightly at his flushed face, certainly not from the heat. They were quite glad, to be honest, as they were starting to sweat and it was sticking to them.]

It's fine, don't worry. [He smirks, looking as Joey refused to meet his eyes.] Could you pass me that dagger?

[Joey, glad to have somewhere to avert his eyes, complied immediately and handed it over to them. He sinks further into his large, rainbow feathered wings.]

[Xornoth takes the dagger and drags it along the sides of their shirt, cutting it off so he didn't have to cause him anymore blood draining out.]

[They hiss slightly, but pull the material away from them and throw it on the floor with their good arm, not currently holding onto his wound.]

[He looks up, wincing slightly with hooded eyes as the sun started to glow in their face. Joey met their eyes for a fraction of a second. Xornoth was almost confused as to why his face was extremely red, but held back from asking and had to keep from saying a snarky comment which possibly would've made the flustered man pass out.]

[Joey pours one of the other healing potions on Xornoth's stab wound. It fizzes for a bit, then sinks into their skin.]

...Alright. Now for the bandages. Tell me if it's too tight, okay?

[He starts wrapping them around Xornoth's torso, trying their best not to actually touch them- but it was hard not to.]

There. You must be tired after all that, so... you can stay here. J-just for today, okay?

[Joey stifles a yawn before flopping down next to Xornoth, too tired to actually care.]

[Xornoth thinks for a while before letting out a small okay. They try to think of places in their immediate memory where they could go after they were inevitably kicked out, but his mind was drawing a blank.]

[They didn't even know how they managed to get to the Lost Empire in the first place. He didn't remember staying here. Ever. It just felt like the ...best place to go. Like an instinctive memory.]

[Xornoth watches as Joey curls into an almost ball, reminding them terribly of a sleepy cat. Almost seconds later, the King was asleep, cut off from finishing his sentence as his head drooped.]

[They wince, feeling apologetic at the tiredness they had caused.]

[Huh. Apologetic. That was a new emotion. It didn't come kindly either, with flashes of golden and blue lights at the back of their eyes accompanying the feeling.]

[They had only let their guard down for a minute, but the impact was done- Xornoth shuts down, zoning out and trying to contain their thoughts and feelings. If they let any of them out, who was to say what would happen?]

[That's when they realized that, looking down at the sleeping man, being here wasn't good for them. It wasn't good for anyone. They had to leave, and sort their mind out before they could risk anything happening, or anybody getting hurt because their mind was too shattered to block feeling out.]

[Xornoth tried to stumble across the room, pain fleeting with every step. They mustn't have been quiet enough, because at the sound of their pained whines, Joey woke up behind him.]

... mrow... Xornoth?

[Joey looks sleepily at Xornoth, who was halfway across the room by now. He didn't know why, but something compelled him to reach out to Xornoth. As if they would be lost to him forever if he didn't.]

Please... don't leave me again...

[He pleads, hoping that Xornoth would listen to them for once.]

[Because no matter how much he denied himself, no matter what had happened between them- Joey loved Xornoth with all his heart and soul. And he didn't want Xornoth to get hurt.]

[Xornoth stops, looking back at him.]

I don't want to hurt you. [They say softly, knowing that if they stayed for too long with their mind in such a frayed condition that they couldn't pull themselves back as their memories started to return.] Not again.

[Joey looks confused as Xornoth realizes, suddenly, that the memory which had just latched onto their mind hadn't been a good one. It made them feel...sad. Guilty. They felt like they didn't deserve the olive branch he was currently holding out.]

I can't- I won't be the cause of your pain.

Xornoth...

[Joey steps forward cautiously, as though he was approaching a stray cat. Then before Xornoth could leave, he drew them into a hug, holding them tightly. Almost as if he was afraid to let go, as if they would dissipate into smoke the moment he relaxed.]

I love you. With all my life, heart and soul. I’m lost without you, so please... stay with me.

[Xornoth was still, unmoving. The words Joey spoke tugged at his heart, begging to let them feel something, anything. Xornoth swallows, not sure how to respond without allowing himself to unbottle the cap upon their emotions.]

[Joey's arms around them squeezed harder, almost begging for a response. They stood frozen, but still...they stayed.]

[They couldn't remember the last time somebody had actually held them so carefully, and full of nothing but pure intentions. He couldn't remember a time where affection was anything but foreign to them, holding onto the feeling so tightly. They couldn't remember the last time someone had ...actually cared for them.]

[So, he stayed.]

I don't remember what love feels like. [Xornoth whispers desperately, trying to hold back the pull it had on his heart. But he held him back fiercely, as though he didn't want Joey to ever leave his arms again.]

That’s okay. We can find out what love feels like together.

[Joey buries his face in the crook of Xornoth’s neck. His heart feels like its about to burst with how much love he feels for them.]

[As the sun rises higher in the skies, they stay close to each other. The world will never stop changing and turning, and both of them have duties to fulfill, but at least right now, in this very moment, they have each other.]

[The sun was just rising over the Lost Empire when they got back from the Rivendell ball.]

Well, that was like... the third worst gathering I've ever been to. Maybe second, but definitely doesn't come close to first.

[Joey lets out a nervous laugh, still slightly nervous around Xornoth.]

We should probably treat your injuries, and deal with... your horns. Might be best to do that in my room. I'd rather not cause mass panic by bringing you into the healer's den...

[Xornoth winces, clutching the side of their abdomen besides where they had been stabbed straight through the stomach.]

I really don't want to know what that first party was, but the morbid side of me does.

[They walked lopsided due the the loss of their horns, leaning heavily on the Lost King besides him who had his arm around them for... support.]

[Joey leads Xornoth around the temples, hiding behind the thick green leaves just incase anybody could see. They felt something tugging at the back of their mind, like a missing, stirring memory of a time just forgotten, but giddy and exciting. They walk in sync, Xornoth knowing the way with their own muscle memory.]

[The air was hot and humid, thick against his skin.]

[Joey suppresses a blush at Xornoth being so close to him. Now's not the time for blushing like a teenager with a crush! You need to make sure they don't bleed out! he tells himself as they arrive at his rooms.]

Well if you really must know, it ended with eight people dead, one of them being me. Of course, I didn't stay dead for long, but still...

[Joey shrugs, before stopping at the entrance to his bedroom.]

You can wait inside, I need to grab more bandages.

[Xornoth shrugged. This wasn't the most surprising thing they'd heard today. He sat down on top of some brightly coloured cushions, groaning as they start to bleed a little bit more.]

[They weren't used to this- blood, mortality, being hurt. Least of all were they used to someone caring for them.]

Joey? [Xornoth called out hoarsely, wincing slightly.] You might need to...hurry up, a bit. The corruption on your bedside table is starting to try and connect to me. If it gets in my stomach, it might...

[Xornoth didn't question why there was some corruption on Joey's cabinet. Instead, they turned their head to the window, where birds were starting to wake and call out to eachother atop the large trees.]

Shit- I forgot about that, sorry-

[Joey rushes in with an armful of bandages and some healing potions, nearly tripping in the process. Dumping the items next to Xornoth, he grabs the pot of corruption and yeets it through the fake painting. There is a muffled crash as the pot falls down the stairs. Joey winces.]

I need to go make sure the pot hasn't hit anything important. Drink one of these healing potions for now, and I'll bandage up your wounds once I get back.

[Xornoth stares at the drink in their hand as they hear a quiet "shit!" as the sound of more breaking pottery hits their ears. The bandages and healing remedies shift on the bed as they twitch, wincing as the noise of more stuff dropping sounds from downstairs.]

["Fuck!" They hear, accompanied by the sound of shattering glass. Xornoth almost wondered what was going on down there and why The King of the empire was acting so flustered and clumsy.]

[Xornoth sips the pink health potion through a yellow straw and glares at Joey as he walks into the room again.]

Not a word. [They warn him.]

I wasn't going to say anything. But... well...

[Joey's wings fluff up slightly.]

Can you... take off your shirt? I need to bandage you properly, and I can't do that with your shirt in the way.

[He's well aware of how red his face is getting as he looks away from Xornoth. It's such a silly thing to get embarrassed over, but only now does Joey realise the situation he's put himself in.]

[Xornoth snickers slightly at his flushed face, certainly not from the heat. They were quite glad, to be honest, as they were starting to sweat and it was sticking to them.]

It's fine, don't worry. [He smirks, looking as Joey refused to meet his eyes.] Could you pass me that dagger?

[Joey, glad to have somewhere to avert his eyes, complied immediately and handed it over to them. He sinks further into his large, rainbow feathered wings.]

[Xornoth takes the dagger and drags it along the sides of their shirt, cutting it off so he didn't have to cause him anymore blood draining out.]

[They hiss slightly, but pull the material away from them and throw it on the floor with their good arm, not currently holding onto his wound.]

[He looks up, wincing slightly with hooded eyes as the sun started to glow in their face. Joey met their eyes for a fraction of a second. Xornoth was almost confused as to why his face was extremely red, but held back from asking and had to keep from saying a snarky comment which possibly would've made the flustered man pass out.]

[Joey pours one of the other healing potions on Xornoth's stab wound. It fizzes for a bit, then sinks into their skin.]

...Alright. Now for the bandages. Tell me if it's too tight, okay?

[He starts wrapping them around Xornoth's torso, trying their best not to actually touch them- but it was hard not to.]

There. You must be tired after all that, so... you can stay here. J-just for today, okay?

[Joey stifles a yawn before flopping down next to Xornoth, too tired to actually care.]

[Xornoth thinks for a while before letting out a small okay. They try to think of places in their immediate memory where they could go after they were inevitably kicked out, but his mind was drawing a blank.]

[They didn't even know how they managed to get to the Lost Empire in the first place. He didn't remember staying here. Ever. It just felt like the ...best place to go. Like an instinctive memory.]

[Xornoth watches as Joey curls into an almost ball, reminding them terribly of a sleepy cat. Almost seconds later, the King was asleep, cut off from finishing his sentence as his head drooped.]

[They wince, feeling apologetic at the tiredness they had caused.]

[Huh. Apologetic. That was a new emotion. It didn't come kindly either, with flashes of golden and blue lights at the back of their eyes accompanying the feeling.]

[They had only let their guard down for a minute, but the impact was done- Xornoth shuts down, zoning out and trying to contain their thoughts and feelings. If they let any of them out, who was to say what would happen?]

[That's when they realized that, looking down at the sleeping man, being here wasn't good for them. It wasn't good for anyone. They had to leave, and sort their mind out before they could risk anything happening, or anybody getting hurt because their mind was too shattered to block feeling out.]

[Xornoth tried to stumble across the room, pain fleeting with every step. They mustn't have been quiet enough, because at the sound of their pained whines, Joey woke up behind him.]

... mrow... Xornoth?

[Joey looks sleepily at Xornoth, who was halfway across the room by now. He didn't know why, but something compelled him to reach out to Xornoth. As if they would be lost to him forever if he didn't.]

Please... don't leave me again...

[He pleads, hoping that Xornoth would listen to them for once.]

[Because no matter how much he denied himself, no matter what had happened between them- Joey loved Xornoth with all his heart and soul. And he didn't want Xornoth to get hurt.]

[Xornoth stops, looking back at him.]

I don't want to hurt you. [They say softly, knowing that if they stayed for too long with their mind in such a frayed condition that they couldn't pull themselves back as their memories started to return.] Not again.

[Joey looks confused as Xornoth realizes, suddenly, that the memory which had just latched onto their mind hadn't been a good one. It made them feel...sad. Guilty. They felt like they didn't deserve the olive branch he was currently holding out.]

I can't- I won't be the cause of your pain.

Xornoth...

[Joey steps forward cautiously, as though he was approaching a stray cat. Then before Xornoth could leave, he drew them into a hug, holding them tightly. Almost as if he was afraid to let go, as if they would dissipate into smoke the moment he relaxed.]

I love you. With all my life, heart and soul. I’m lost without you, so please... stay with me.
