No one is quite sure where Apollymi came from. Some insist she's the daughter of a goddess. Others claim she's simply a woman who has lived long enough to become a fairy tale herself. Apollymi never bothers correcting either story.
An archaeologist by trade and a cultural preservationist by choice, she has spent the better part of two decades chasing forgotten civilizations across deserts, mountains, jungles, and ocean floors. She believes history isn't buried because it wants to be found. It waits for someone willing to listen.
Her fascination with the past isn't academic curiosity alone.
She's actually the daughter of Mnemosyne, the Titan of memory. Born with the gift of preserving what the world forgets, Apollymi inherited a burden instead of a blessing. A curse slowly transforms her into living crystal, beginning at her fingertips and spreading with every passing year. The only thing capable of slowing it is fulfilling a wish born from genuine hope.
Not every wish.
Only the ones that come from the heart.
She cannot conjure riches for the greedy or vengeance for the bitter. Her magic responds only to wishes capable of changing a life for the better. Every time she grants one, the crystal recedes, if only for a little while.
Most people never realize she's the reason their impossible dream came true. She prefers it that way.
Among supernatural circles, however, stories circulate about a woman dressed in shades of blue who appears when someone has nearly given up. Some call her the Blue Fairy. Others know her as a wish keeper. Apollymi has never cared much for titles. They're simply stories people tell to reinforce inexplicable kindness.
Outside of her magic, she's happiest ankle-deep in an excavation trench with a notebook full of observations and dirt beneath her fingernails. She has an endless curiosity for ancient languages, forgotten customs, and civilizations history has overlooked. She is fully convinced that preserving a culture is just another way of granting a wish- that every stolen piece returned, every language documented, and every forgotten name spoken aloud is hope surviving another generation.
Her museum reflects that philosophy. It isn't filled with priceless treasures locked behind glass, but with stories. Every object has a history, every history has people behind it, and every person deserves to be remembered.
Apollymi has little interest in fame. She'd rather publish a paper than attend a gala, spend weeks cataloging pottery shards than sit through politics, and she'll happily derail a conversation if someone mentions an obscure civilization she's been dying to learn about.
She's warm, quietly funny, and endlessly patient with genuine curiosity, but stubborn when it comes to protecting history. She has turned down fortunes for artifacts she believed belonged in their homeland and has ended professional relationships over unethical excavations. To her, history isn't something to own.
It's something to care for.
Because if memories are allowed to disappear...
...one day there may be no one left to remember the people who made the wish in the first place.
I'll tear your wings as I've melted your smile as I run all your colors away...
Apollymi's hands shook so violently that the paper that she held with the message crumpled. The room suddenly felt too small, the air too thin, and her chest seized as if invisible hands had wrapped around her ribs. She looked around, trying to see who might have left this vile note for her, and as much as she wanted to deny it's for her, the words 'tear your wings' made it obvious it was for her.
Her heartbeat pounded painfully in her ears, drowning out every rational thought while her breathing came in quick, shallow gasps that refused to fill her lungs.
