My story
Hello @taylorswift ,
My name is Anniek, I’m 20 years old and I live in The Netherlands. And ofcourse I am a big Swiftie.
I wanted to tell you, a story. Maybe it’ll inspire others as well.
I was born with a disability called Spina Bifida. It actually means that, a section of my spine is damaged. Because of that, I can’t walk that good and I can’t walk long distances. I have a wheelchair for the long distances. And I have a tricycle because my balance isn’t that good. There are a few more things but that will make things more complicated. After I was born I had to under go a surgery of at least 6 hours to close my back, otherwise I would die.
So because of all those things I felt kinda insecure, cause I couldn’t be like the rest. (My thoughts.) I’ve spent the years on a special school, for people with disabilities. Since my 16th year I’m on a regular school. Which in the beginning was scary because I didn’t know what people would think about me. I had a very hard time there in the beginning. I was sent away from my first education, child day care. Because I had a disability. That was my dream, I was devastated. I had to find a new dream. And finally I found my dream, studying law, this is want to do for the rest of my life. I will fight for it! And I’m halfway there right now!
Now I see that: if you fight for something you want, you can get it. And it’s true. I am so so much more confident right now. I don’t care what other people think of me. If they don’t like me, sucks for them☺️.
But I just wanna say that I couldn’t do this all alone, I wanna thank YOU for inspiring me every day. You helped me gaining that confidence! Thank you for being my biggest inspiration. You show that you can get everything. If you go for it. And don’t care about other peoples opinion!♥️🙏🏻 Thank you, thank you is all I can say.
