          “ what do you have planned then... if you’re making me take orders from him...? ” of all the human emotions remaining to experience, disquiet was not one he expected to endure so suddenly. it was not bitterness that coated his words, but the smallest trace of dejection. he was not so foolish as to question his king’s orders directly, but means of detecting motive as a companion rather than soldier were more feasible. “ why aren’t you taking me with you...? ” @throned​ .

                  “    it’s good we managed to arrive at the inn in time .    ”

             the wood creaks against the wind  ,  traveling with the rain that gently pitter - patters across the roof .   candlelights keep the room from going completely dark  ,  shadows creeping within the corners   –   but  not  with  an  eerie  tension .    for sora  ,  it offers some peace and quiet now that both of them have accomplished their mission  .    he rakes a hand through his hair to push back his wet bangs  ,  somewhat drenched from the rain .   he turns to kanda  ,  offering him a towel to dry himself off .  

                  “   the rain should stop by tomorrow morning  .  we can grab the train then .   ”     /   @lotusbled​

          little more than a silent nod was offered in response as he accepted the towel extended to him. storm-dulled blue eyes remained fixated upon the floor if only for a moment before raising to sora’s. the warmth of his gaze was contagious, ridding his chest of the shivers that accompanied the rain. he sat on the bed in front of sora, absently squeezing the water from sodden midnight locks and letting strained limbs relax. as eager as he was to return to the comfort and familiarity of headquarters, the solitude and respite of being in close proximity with sora was a commodity so desperately needed.

          “ why rush ... ?? we finished ahead of schedule. ”

( late ) kanda day 2020 / accepting .

          “ what the — ? ” with focus set so diligently on the day’s agenda that lingered in his mind, barely a thought was spared as to the girl’s approach. his pace was halted abruptly by gentle hands upon his shoulders, and soon, lips whispering against his cheek. not even the slightest spark of aggravation was present in sky-like eyes, though perhaps enraptured with a subtle glint of adoration. and yet his frozen form would tell of surprise, unable to recall if this day had even been mentioned to her. nonetheless, his gaze softened as head canted to the side. “ it’s just another day... but thanks. ”

          “ hn — ? ” sturdy stance kept them both from plummeting to the ground, arms encircling her form with ease: an impulse, merely, provoked by the hold she had upon his quickly beating heart. the momentum with which she approached caused him to swing so slightly, but never did he let go. the sentiment upon her tongue had since been overlooked, for during the years prior he’d cared not to acknowledge it. a day which surely did not bring him happy tidings, but one another found worthy of celebrating.

          “ you... didn’t have to do that... but thank you... for remembering. ”

grip loosened around her, if only to let hands drop and encompass her own. quietly, cautiously, a kiss was pressed to the corner of her lips: a gentle offering of gratitude, an intimate i love you.
