Because as black women as a whole we are under appreciated. When you think of the word “cheerleader” a black girl probably will never come to mind. We are an extreme minority in most gyms with only a sprinkle on color in each routine. There are some teams who touch the competition floor with an all white team. We are under valued in the sport. I’ve been on teams where I’m serious and passionate, but to them I’m just the “sassy black girl”. This is for all the black girls who get asked obscene questions by ignorant white girls. I made this for the black cheerleaders out there. I’m not your sprinkle of diversity, I’m not your sassy black girl, no I will not teach you how twerk, yes this is my real hair, can you touch it? Hell no, I don’t care if you like black guys, wtf does “you’re not really black” mean I AM NOT your sassy black friend. I am not an accessory for you to tote around at competitions. You better not snap your fingers and roll your neck at me ever again. You know what I had to figure all that out after years of cheer. I had to learn to respect myself and make them respect me. I am black, yes I am “black black” you will respect me because I am an athlete not your sassy black friend. And if you didn’t understand the post, then it wasn’t meant for you.
