Earth has developed with advanced changes, from infrastructures and technologies to many other things. It has changed a lot. There are even android robots and AI around. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful changes on earth, the once peaceful Linkon City turned to chaos when the Wanderers betrayed the contract.
At the same time, two girls just arrived at the train station. Two suitcases with shades of pink and red can be seen as they step down from the train.
"Where is he? He's taking so long?" Celeste grumbles as she looks around when they finally get to the lobby.
Not long after, the two girls, Celeste and Althea, see a car passing by, and they see Caleb rolling down the windows, "Hey, sorry for being late!"
"Oh, who's this?" He asks.
"Don't hit on my friend!" Celeste warns him.
"Hey, I'm not!" Caleb chuckles as he raises his arms as if he is being arrested. "Hey, I'm Caleb. Nice to meet you." He said, facing Althea and offering a handshake.
Althea nods, accepting his handshake, "It's nice to meet you too."
"Hop in!" He said as he unlocked the door and the baggage.
Celeste and Althea put their things into the baggage section of the car before getting in.
"Wait! Why are you two at the back?! Celeste, cmon now! Don't leave your bro all alone here!" Caleb exclaims.
"And leave her alone? Definitely not!" Celeste scoffs.
"Celeste... please..." Caleb looks at her with puppy eyes. Sure, if she's someone else, it'd look cute, but knowing this guy for the longest time and he's her adopted bro? Celeste cringed instantly!
"Don't use that on me. You know it'd never work." Celeste said.
"C'mon, just sit with him. I'll be okay alone." Althea assures her.
Celeste looks at Althea worriedly, "You sure?"
"Of course, go ahead and sit with him." Althea nods.
Celeste nods, sits beside her brother, and off they go to their apartment. Through the ride, Caleb suddenly asked Celeste about Zayne, surprising her.
"Hey, you remember Zayne, right?" He asks.
"Yeah? What about him?" Celeste asks back.
"He just finished his studies like a year ago when you were studying elsewhere to be a hunter," Caleb replies. "And guess what grandma did."
"...What did she do?" Celeste looks at him in horror.
"He's now your primary physician, officially. Good luck dealing with that ice cube." Caleb chuckles.
"What?!" Celeste gasps. "You're joking-"
"Wait!" Althea exclaims. "The Zayne?! As in the famous doctor?!"
"He's a famous doctor?!" Celeste looks at Althea in surprise.
"You didn't know?" Althea asks. "He's the top doctor in Linkon City! He's known worldwide!"
"Wow..." Celeste is surprised for sure. She knows Zayne is academically intelligent, but she didn't think he was that smart and ended up famous like that.
"My physician is Zayne..." Celeste repeats, still confused.
"That's right, you know, for your heart condition and all," Caleb answers casually.
"Hm, guess Grandma just wants what's best for me. I understand." Celeste nods.
Behind them, they hear munching noises from Althea ; Celeste ends up looking back, "Ooh! What are you eating?" Celeste asks.
"Pocky, the usual," Althea replies
"Ooh! Can I have some?" She asks.
"Yeah, sure! How about you, Caleb?" Althea offers as she gives the pocky to Celeste.
"No thanks, I'm driving after all."
"Ah, right." Althea nods as she leans back to her seat.
After a few minutes, they finally arrived at the apartment, "Whoa! That's a huge apartment! How did you afford this?!"
"It's from the part-time jobs and everything." Celeste shrugs.
"Oh, yeah, that does make sense. You did end up having lots of part time jobs and now accepted as a Hunter. Good for you!" Caleb ruffles her hair.
"Caleb!" Celeste scolds him.
"Right, right, not gonna ruin your perfectly styled hair, sis?" Caleb jokes, causing Celeste to roll her eyes.
Althea ends up feeling out of place with them since, one, she's not their family, and two, she can't randomly barge into their conversation because, back to reason number one, she's not family.
"Anyways, let's get in. Cmon!" Celeste pulls Althea's hand to get into their apartment.
As they enter the apartment, the three of them and a blonde young man pass by each other. Celeste and Caleb are oblivious, but Haruka stops to look back at the platinum-blonde man.
'Who is he? Why do I find him familiar?' She thought.
"Althea?" Celeste called as she stopped to wait for her best friend.
"Oh yeah! Coming!" Haruka replies as she catches up to them, going further into the apartment.
Caleb ended up waiting by the lobby's sofa since Celeste and Althea had to finish up some documents about their apartment room. Once they were finished, the receptionist gave them two access cards to the lift and the apartment password. The card also included the manual for changing their room password.
"Oh, this is nice. We can customize our passwords!" Celeste exclaims as she reads the manual provided by the card. "Thanks a lot, miss!"
The receptionist only nods, "You're most welcome. The elevator is just around the corner. Just go straight and find the first corridor to the left." She said.
Celeste and Althea once again thanked the receptionist before finally going to the elevator to settle into their apartment.
"Oh damn, I didn't know you guys not only have an apartment room but also the condo one?!" Caleb gasps.
"We do, because as I said. We got lots of money from the part-time jobs, plus it's practical." Celeste boasts.
"Right..." Caleb tuts as he helps them settle in. "Oh well, I'll leave you guys here and..."
"Where are you going?" Celeste asks.
"I got things to do. I'm a pilot, after all." Caleb pats her head. "Good luck at your initiation tomorrow!"
"Thanks...." Celeste nods awkwardly.
"You too, Althea. Good luck!" Caleb adds.
"Thanks!" Haruka replies.
The following day, Celeste finds the room empty. She looks here and there for her best friend, Haruka, but finds no one. Where did she go?! Not long she hears her phone ringing and sees "Zayne" on the phone screen.
'Oh sh*t...' She thought but she answers the phone anyway.
"Really? You're still at home when today's the initiation?" That's the first thing she heard when she answers the call.
"Not hello, good morning, how are you? Straight to the point huh?" Celeste scoffs.
"Either that or you won't be ready for your initiation. I'm at the parking lot." He said.
"I'm at the parking lot. Either you want to walk there, or I'll drop you off right before work." Zayne said nonchalantly before hanging up.
Celeste groans in frustration as she gets ready for her initiation and gets down to the GF floor where the lobby is. Low and behold, her personal physician/ childhood friend, Zayne is sitting on the sofa by the lobby.
"I thought you were in the parking lot?" She asks.
Zayne didn't even look away from the book he was reading, "I did say I was at the parking lot. I never said I'd be there for eternity." Zayne counters her so smoothly.
Celeste scoffs, "Do you really want to drop me off at the initiation building? It's far away from your hospital, right??"
"Not really, it has the same route so why not?" Zayne replies. "Besides, I don't want my patient to be late for her first ever job."
"It's not my first ever job!" Celeste denies.
"First ever full-time job then." Zayne corrects himself. It may be only a few millimeters, but Celeste can see him smirking slightly. He definitely enjoys teasing her in his cold and nonchalant tone.
Celeste sighs, she knows this man a bit too much to notice these details. Zayne notices her sighing and stands up from the sofa, "Cmon then, you don't wanna be late."
"Yeah...sure..." Celeste nods awkwardly as she follows Zayne into the car. Wait, a car?! He has a car?! Celeste is still surprised even when he's inside the car.
"I do," It was short and to the point.
"Huh, guess you really are successful," Celeste concludes.
Zayne does not answer and drives her to the initiation place to drop her off. Celeste was about to thank him, but this man disappeared like no one's business.
'Cold as always...' She thought, sighing.
