lovely-lady-maxine:
“You sure as hell do!” Maxine argued. “That crystal wasn’t some piece of shit I bought at the mall. That crystal happened to be the container of three souls. My dead husband, the Dark Lord ChinChin and Negative ChinChin. So unless you shell up the dough for me to replace it, you are going to be on the ass end of some serious curses. Is that what you want? You want the Dark Lord hanging over your head for the rest of your life? It’s already bad enough with Frank askin’ me why I was keepin’ his soul out in the garage!”
Duckman is almost baffled at how dumb she must think he is if she really expects him to believe a dumb crystal harbored souls.
“This is real world we’re livin’ in, ya know! Not some fairy-tale castle land where dead people are kept alive magically by the work of some stupid crystal and where I got an unlimited supply of money to pay ya back.” He snarks, his glare fixed on her. He could hardly afford a living for himself as it was.
At what he perceives as a threat, he scoffs. “A curse? Really? You’re stoopin’ to a curse? Until you can prove it, I ain’t buyin’ it!”
“If ya’ couldn’t afford it, you shouldn’t have your dog running’ around on other people’s property...” She said, crossing her arms over her chest. “Proof? You want proof? God damn, I don’t even want to think about the havoc ChinChin is going to reek on this dimension.” She tapped her foot impatiently.
She was angry, but it’s not like she didn’t get it. She didn’t believe it herself before meeting the spirits face to face. She wasn’t too good at harnessing the power of the chromosomes for her own use yet, but she wondered if there was something she could pull off... Just enough to get $100 out of this lame duck.
“This is all very real. My husband left me some of his magic. Look.” She pointed at Duckman’s dead flower bed, which suddenly burst into flame. “Oops...” She waved her hand over it. The flames vanishing and instead becoming a patch of luscious orange, yellow and red lilies. “Believe me now?” she asked.
