Your 2019 self care plan
January can be a good opportunity to review your wellbeing plans for the coming year.
Top tips for your 2019 self care plan: Review - look at what changes you need to make to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. Be realistic in any goals your wish to set. Identify why you want to make the change, how you are going to do it, and how you will measure your success. Ease your way into any lifestyle changes.
Get active - being active is good for your physical and mental health. Find physical activities you enjoy and think about how you can fit more of them into your daily life.
Connecting with others, getting absorbed in interesting activities can boost your mood.
Feed your body well - review your diet and hydration. Look at what tweaks you need to make to improve your energy and health.
Get outdoors - natural sunlight can boost your vitamin D levels as well as your mood.
Reduce stress - identify your stressors and review what you need to put in place to
keep these in check:
Social media detox - how much time do you spend on social media? Build in social media free time and time away from all screens.
De-clutter
Home - what are you hanging onto that you don't need / use anymore. Re-purpose or recycle it.
Workspace - clear out old papers, e mails etc that you don't need. Improve your working environment however you can.
Mind - what thoughts and behaviours do not serve you well ? Find appropriate support to help you refocus.
Relationships (work, friends, family) - what changes do you need to make? Who gives you energy and who drains it?
Me time - schedule this in to your daily routine.
Look forward - give yourself things to look forward to. Plan a holiday, time out with friends.
Try something new - join a class, start a new hobby or pick up on an old one you enjoyed. Learn something new - this helps prevent stagnation and gives you a new challenge.
Your wellbeing plan is a cycle of:
planning - decide what you need to do and how you are going to do it
action - actually doing what you have planned
reviewing - build in regular reviews to monitor how things are working for
you.
Tunix Travels to Crete
Marin and Lagoon were my constant companions on my recent holiday to the Rethymnon area of Crete. I selected Marin for my travelling dress and layered it up with a long sleeve tee shirt and hoodie with leggings and trainers. When arriving at a chilly UK airport at 4am, the layers were great and kept me warm. The dress was so comfortable to travel in. Then arriving in Crete, where it was around 30 degrees Celsius, the layers came off and the lovely moisture wicking material kept me cool on the 2 hour transfer to the hotel.
My pretty lagoon dress with its Mediterranean colours, was a delight to wear during the day, keeping me cool and comfortable whilst exploring the area. Rethymnon is such a lovely place with a pretty harbour, winding streets full of shops, restaurants and an old fortress, all a lovely 25 minute walk along the beach from our hotel. En-route I came across a wine shop selling locally made wines with no additives. A bottle costs just €2.50. It is really nice and NO headache afterwards.  It's a shame they don't export it! A few bottles of local, additive free wine, fresh olives and watching the sun go down in the evenings - just lovely. My two Tunix dresses now travel with me on all my trips, they are just so versatile. Have a look at the on-line shop at www.tunix.co.uk and find your Tunix travel companions.
A monument to strong women and girls
I visited London last weekend on a very hot July day. Many of the underground lines were disrupted due to maintenance work, so I decided to walk everywhere. I am so glad I did, as by walking you take in so much more of your surroundings. There are so many beautiful buildings in London and many with so much history. I walked down Regent street and then to Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall towards Westminster Bridge and the Houses of Parliament. Whilst on Whitehall, I stood for a while to look at the war memorials.
I was particularly interested in the bronze monument by sculptor John Mills close to the Cenotaph, which features 17 items of clothing depicting the various roles carried out by women of World War 11. Remembering their courage and resilience this monument is dedicated to all the women who served in the war and on the home front.
'Let the women of Britain come forward’ said Churchill. Over seven million women volunteered for the armed services and supporting roles in munitions factories, first aid and the Land Army, in the Second World War; 450,000 were conscripted into the armed forces.
So as I left this monument, I continued my walk with gratitude to all those women who has stepped up the to mark. I hope that other women who pass this strong and bold monument will ask themselves ' what sort of woman am I and what positive difference can I make during my lifetime?'
It also reminded me of a saying by Eleanor Roosevelt ' A women is like a tea bag, you never know how strong it is until it's in hot water.' Oh how true this is.Â
The philosophy of Tunix and Nuu-Muu is 'believing in strong girls and women'. Here stands a monument to that.

Putting the dress to the holiday test.
I took my lovely Lagoon dress on holiday to Mallorca last month to see how much I would actually wear it.
Lagoon has such beautiful colours of different blues and yellows, this lovely dress was perfect for the seaside and bright sunny days.
I stayed in Port Alcudia in Mallorca which has a lovely beach which seems to stretch for miles. Wearing Lagoon I walked for at least an hour along the shoreline not worrying whether the dress got wet and was wearing my swimming costume underneath should I feel like a quick dip along the way or to stop at a bar for a drink. It was great, as I don't really like to just wear my swimming costume whilst walking along the beach for any distance as I don't have the figure to do that! The dress was great cover without me overheating in the hot sunshine.
After my long walk, I wanted a swim so left Lagoon on the sun bed and went for dip. After I had dried off a bit Lagoon was back on and I was off again. I also wore my dress to the hotel pool which again worked a treat. It also worked well with a pair of shorts when doing a bit of holiday shopping. Conclusion - these dresses are great for holiday. They take up little room in the case, they don't crease, they dry quickly and are so versatile. What's not to like - It's a travel staple.
A way of living
Being lovers of the Scandinavian home style, we were attracted to 'Hygge', the Danish way of living and 'Lagom' the Swedish way of living.
Interpreting the Scandinavian lifestyle is all about balance, not about excess or cutting out. It is an appreciation of what you have and taking pleasure in a more simplistic way of living. Living more consciously and with intent by being more aware of ourselves and our environment.
Removing the things we no longer need in our lives, that no longer serve a purpose can be liberating. It is not about amassing possessions and hundreds of 'friends' on social media, it's about the quality not quantity of relationships with people and the environment in which we live.
Gratitude for what we have, and the love for our family and friends are key. Spending quality time with people that are important to us, appreciating the outdoors and looking after ourselves and our environment.
It's all about people and place, living in a balanced and conscious way - Tunix loves this way of living!
Feeling good in your work-out gear can boost your mood and make you love being active!
When we are trying to find the motivation to be more active, it helps to dress the part. There are a few things to think about before you purchase your new exercise gear.
Active wear should make you feel comfortable and confident.Â
Footwear should be appropriate to the type of activity you are doing
Your underwear should be comfortable and supportive.
When choosing active wear, ensure it fits properly and that the fabric is stretchy to allow movement and that it wicks moisture. Fabric that wicks is designed to draw sweat and perspiration away from the skin. Fabric in active wear is important, as you don't want it to rub or irritate your skin, it needs to be breathable and allow free range of movement. UV protection in the fabric is also something to look out for.
What we wear affects our self esteem and confidence. Don't go for the old baggy t shirt and track bottoms, choose something comfy and stylish that makes you feel good. If you feel good in your active wear, you are more likely to make an effort to be more active and being more active makes you feel good, which in turn, makes you want to keep on being active.Â
Look no further for your feel-good active wear than Nuu-Muu sports and activity dresses. Tunix has a lovely selection of these dresses which are specifically designed for exercise and an active lifestyle. This wonderful dress is stretchy, moisture wicking and is SPF 50+ with an A line cut that flatters.
