Blogs are cool ... or whatever
Before taking this college writing course which entitled me to blog on tumblr, I always had the notion that blogging is only something that lonely women do in movies to pass time. But now, I have blogged and experienced Tumblr first hand. I can definitely say that Tumblr is truly the place where you can express yourself through writing and having discussions with people. As you can see, all of my blogs are topic based and that’s one of the things I love. It’s not like Facebook where people post random thoughts or Instagram where you see random pictures of what someone had for lunch.
Every post has a meaning. When I first started blogging I was mainly concerned about reaching a certain word limit instead of the actual content of what I am writing. Now I feel as though I tend to focus on getting my point across to the audience, like yourself. I would definitely call myself an amateur blogger. If you think otherwise, thanks lol, but for the most part… I’m still new to blogging. Without a doubt I feel as though if I continue on blogging and sharing what I have to say with everyday people on Tumblr, I can overall develop as a writer. When it comes to blogging, I am definitely great at talking ‘to’ the audience instead of 'at’ them. When talking 'at’ someone you are presenting something to them, while talking 'to’ someone is more of a conversation.
Have you ever felt that when you keep practicing something over and over you get better at it with each attempt? Practice makes perfect remember? That’s how I feel with blogging. The more I blog and get accustomed to it, the better I will eventually become. If you may not noticed, blogging gives you not only a voice, but a chance to connect with readers as well. I love it when I write a post about something and then later find comments or suggestions from readers who tell me that they’ve learned something or that I’ve helped them in some way.
Blogging lets the world see what you write. Today, there are many writers that are afraid of rejection or criticism from critics. Having a blog you still have to worry about the critics because haters gon’ hate but you are just like everyone else sharing what you feel and composing posts that captures certain readers. In general, blogging helps you master the craft of writing, and it helps you master the craft of connecting with readers similar to you.
